We have our first professional photos of the leads of the Wicked<\/em><\/strong><\/a> movie, including Ariana Grande<\/strong><\/a> as Glinda, Cynthia Erivo<\/strong><\/a> as Elphaba, Michelle Yeoh<\/strong><\/a> as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum<\/strong><\/a> as the Wizard (all courtesy of Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a>!)<\/p>\n The cast and director, Jon M. Chu<\/strong>, also sat down for a brief interview.<\/p>\n We learned some fun tidbits about the movie, including that Cynthia <\/strong>and Ariana <\/strong>sing the famed musical\u2019s songs live in the film!<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Jon <\/strong>shared, \u201cThese are live vocals. When we were shooting it, those girls were like, \u2018F-ck the pre-records. We\u2019re going live.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n He recalls asking, \u201cThere\u2019s going to be a lot of wind in your air pipes. Is that okay?\u201d They both responded yes!<\/p>\n About their auditions, Ariana <\/strong>said she had been wanting the role for years. She said, \u201cIt was literally 10 years of being like, \u2018Knock, knock, any developments? Is there an audition coming this year, or next year? I would like to start preparing today.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Jon <\/strong>said of Ariana<\/strong>, \u201cEvery time she came in to audition, she\u2019d be there at least 30 minutes early. I\u2019d see her car circling. I\u2019d be like, \u2018Who is that?\u2019 \u2018That\u2019s Ariana Grande.\u2019 \u2018Why is she here so early?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Despite Cynthia<\/strong>\u2018s massive success, she didn\u2019t think she\u2019d even be seen for the role! Once she landed it, she shared, \u201cI was training like I was a boxer.\u201d Jon said of her audition after hearing her sing, \u201cMarc <\/strong>and I looked at each other and we\u2019re like, \u2018We\u2019re done.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n Part One is set to be released in theaters on November 27, 2024 and Part Two will follow on November 26, 2025.
