Beyonc\u00e9\u2019<\/strong><\/a>s Act II: Cowboy Carter<\/em> <\/a>has sparked a major debate among country music fans, but Maren Morris<\/a><\/strong> couldn\u2019t be more ready for the icon\u2019s new era.<\/p>\n

Several weeks after she dropped two songs from the album, Beyonc\u00e9, 42, shed light on her upcoming project in a Tuesday, March 19, Instagram post.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cToday marks the 10-day countdown until the release of Act II<\/em>,\u201d she wrote. \u201cThank you from the bottom of my heart to all of the supporters of \u2018Texas Hold \u2018Em\u2019 and \u201816 Carriages.\u2019 I feel honored to be the first Black woman with the number one single on the Hot Country Songs chart.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cIt was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed \u2026 and it was very clear that I wasn\u2019t. But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAdidas x Ivy Park\/Cover Images Beyonc\u00e9 is headed to the country, and some of the genre\u2019s biggest stars couldn\u2019t be happier. Along with announcing Renaissance Act II during Super Bowl LVIII on February 11, Beyonc\u00e9 christened her new era by releasing \u201cTexas Hold \u2018Em\u201d and \u201c16 Carriages.\u201d The two country songs embodied her Houston roots [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Beyonc\u00e9<\/a> explained that the album<\/a> has been more than \u201cfive years in the making,\u201d seemingly referring to her prior foray into country on 2016\u2019s \u201cDaddy Lessons.\u201d The Recording Academy\u2019s country committee refused to consider the Lemonade<\/em> hit eligible for Grammy Awards in country categories. Beyonc\u00e9 teamed up with The Chicks to perform \u201cDaddy Lessons\u201d at the 50th annual Country Music Association Awards, stirring up even more controversy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me. \u2026 This ain\u2019t a Country album. This is a \u2018Beyonc\u00e9\u2019 album,\u201d she continued on Tuesday. \u201cThis is act ii COWBOY CARTER, and I am proud to share it with y\u2019all!\u201d<\/p>\n

Among those who applauded the message was Morris, 33, who has been outspoken about moving away from the traditional country genre. (In September 2023, Morris told the Los Angeles Times<\/em> that she feels \u201cdistanced\u201d from country music, which \u201cis burning itself down.\u201d)<\/p>\n

Beyonc\u00e9 further teased \u201csome surprises\u201d on her upcoming record, including collaborations with \u201cbrilliant artists.\u201d Earlier this month, country legend Dolly Parton<\/strong> celebrated Act II: Cowboy Carter,<\/em> which is rumored to feature a cover<\/a> of her 1973 hit \u201cJolene.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I think she has!\u201d Parton, 78, said in an interview with KNOX News on March 8. \u201cI think she\u2019s recorded \u2018Jolene\u2019 and I think it\u2019s probably gonna be on her country album, which I\u2019m very excited about that. I love her! She\u2019s a beautiful girl and a great singer.\u201d<\/p>\n

While some critics have attacked Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s country music, Parton is defending her.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people don\u2019t realize Beyonc\u00e9 is a country girl. She\u2019s from Texas,\u201d Parton said. \u201cI think we belong wherever we can do good, and her song is number one across every chart in the whole world, I think. So, I mean, who can argue with that?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBeyonc\u00e9 has always been in \u201cformation\u201d \u2014 especially when it comes to fashion.\u00a0 The hitmaker never misses the chance to make a style statement \u2014 on and off the red carpet. Some of her standout looks were from the Met Gala, specifically the 2015 soir\u00e9e, which boasted a \u201cChina: Through the Looking Glass\u201d theme. Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Parton also revealed that she has known Beyonc\u00e9 for many years.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve kind of sent messages back and forth,\u201d she continued. \u201cAnd she and her mother were like fans, and I was always touched that they were fans, and I always thought she was great.\u201d<\/p>\n
