Whoopi Goldberg<\/strong><\/a> got candid about what inspired her recent weight loss.<\/p>\n During a discussion about the Monday, March 18, ABC special Shame, Blame and the Weight Loss Revolution<\/i>, Goldberg, 68, revealed her own journey with body image.<\/p>\n \u201cI weighed almost 300 pounds when I made Till<\/i><\/a>,\u201d Goldberg said on the Tuesday, March 19, episode of The View<\/i><\/a>. \u201cI had taken all those steroids, I was on all this stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n Goldberg, who played Emmett Till\u2019s grandmother Alma Carthan<\/strong> in the movie, was referring to the steroids she was forced to take after being hospitalized due to sciatica complications in June 2021.<\/p>\n The Sister Act <\/i>star admitted her weight had \u201cgone up and down\u201d over the years, but she had never paid any mind because \u201cI don\u2019t listen to what other people say about me.\u201d<\/p>\n However, Goldberg said that all changed once she saw herself in Till<\/i>, which began filming in September 2021 and was released the following year.<\/p>\n \u201cI had always just felt like me,\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd then I saw me and I thought, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s a lot of me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Goldberg divulged she used the antidiabetic medication Mounjaro to help her \u201cdrop the weight.\u201d<\/p>\n The View<\/i> cohost Sunny Hostin<\/strong> revealed she also used the drug, which is commonly prescribed to help with weight loss<\/a>, after she gained 40 pounds during the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n \u201cI love to cook, and I found out I love to eat,\u201d Hostin, 55, said of her weight gain. \u201cI was horrified by the fact that I would have to come out on air.\u201d<\/p>\n After being honest about her use of Mounjaro, Hostin said she received \u201chate emails\u201d from people who accused her of \u201ctaking the drug away from diabetics.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThere is shame when you\u2019ve gained weight,\u201d Hostin admitted. \u201cI had never experienced that kind of shame before.\u201d<\/p>\n Hostin praised the candidness of the special, which pointed out that obesity is a disease.<\/p>\n![\"Whoopi](\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Whoopi-Goldberg-Weighed-Almost-300-Pounds-While-Filming-Till-in-2021.jpg?w=1000&quality=86&strip=all\")
