Jon Bon Jovi<\/strong> <\/a>candidly shared where he stands with his former bandmate Richie Sambora<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not in contact because he\u2019s not in the organization any longer,\u201d Bon Jovi, 62, told Ultimate Classic Rock<\/a> on Thursday, March 14. \u201c[That] doesn\u2019t mean that there\u2019s not love forever, but it\u2019s 11 years ago that he just didn\u2019t show up anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

After 30 years as lead guitarist, Sambora left the band in 2013<\/a> during the Because We Can<\/em> world tour, a source confirmed to Us Weekly<\/em> at the time. \u201cThere were a lot of well-documented problems, so this was the best decision for now,\u201d the insider said. Phil X<\/strong> (real name Theofilos Xenidis) replaced Sambora.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd there were emotional issues that he was dealing with as a single dad, and there were substance abuse issues that, you know\u2026 Phil X had to show up one time, and then Phil X had to show up another time,\u201d Bon Jovi said. \u201cAnd then, again, there\u2019s a show that night. What are we gonna do?\u201d<\/p>\n

Bon Jovi and Sambora, 64, are set to appear in the upcoming four-part Hulu docuseries Thank You Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story<\/em> which debuts on April 26. When asked if he had spoken with Sambora about the docuseries, Bon Jovi said he hadn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot a word,\u201d Bon Jovi said. \u201cThat was [director] Gotham Chopra<\/strong>. This wasn\u2019t a puff piece and this was no bullshit. This is not us behind the scenes pulling strings. Oh, no, no, no. They interviewed Richie in London. I wasn\u2019t there. I had nothing to do with it. No, I still haven\u2019t seen the [finished] product.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bon Jovi opened up about Sambora\u2019s departure during an interview with Good Morning America<\/em> in 2016. \u201cEveryone says, \u2018Well, what happened?\u2019\u201d he said at the time. \u201cWe were in Calgary. The last album was entering the charts at No. 1. We\u2019re sold out every single night. It\u2019s show No. 21, and the short of it is, Richie just didn\u2019t show up at the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bon Jovi noted that the band hadn\u2019t seen him in person<\/a> since. \u201cThere was no fight. There was no money. There was nothing I swear in my whole career, and he\u2019ll tell you the same thing. So we went on,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
