Plot-wise, this character has taken the path that it did,\u201d Harmon said in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etonline.com\/mark-harmon-addresses-ncis-exit-after-19-seasons-for-first-time-exclusive-188726\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Entertainment Tonight<\/em> <\/a>in August 2022 following his departure, adding that his character is still present in the <em>NCIS<\/em> universe. \u201cI\u2019m not retired.
