Bates Motel<\/em> came to an end but the show\u2019s stars, including Freddie Highmore<\/strong><\/a>, Max Thieriot<\/strong><\/a> and Olivia Cooke<\/strong>, have remained on our screens.<\/p>\n The A&E series, which ran from 2013 to 2017, worked as a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock<\/strong>\u2018s 1960 film Psycho<\/em>.<\/a> Based on Robert Bloch<\/strong>\u2018s 1959 novel of the same name, both the show and the movie focused on Norman Bates (Freddie) and the motel that later serves as the backdrop for his murders<\/a>.<\/p>\n Bates Motel<\/em>, however, sets up the story by introducing Norman as a teenager who makes the move to Oregon with his mother, Norma (Vera Farmiga<\/strong><\/a>). The duo attempt to start fresh after his father\u2019s sudden death but Norman\u2019s deteriorating mental health causes complications.<\/p>\n The final season of the show loosely followed the plot of Psycho<\/em>, which introduced Norman as an adult running the motel while secretly keeping his mother\u2019s remains on the property. Bates Motel<\/em> expanded on the world of Psycho<\/em> by introducing new characters such as Norman\u2019s half-brother, Dylan<\/a> (Thieriot), his best friend Emma (Cooke) and a love interest for Norma a.k.a Sheriff Alex Romero (N\u00e9stor Carbonell<\/strong>).<\/p>\n
