\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Ryan Gosling<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s performance of \u201cI\u2019m Just Ken\u201d was a highlight from the 2024 Oscars<\/strong><\/a><\/em> earlier this week. It was also an opportunity for many of the castmates to close the chapter on Barbie<\/strong><\/a><\/em> after a whirlwind year. <\/p>\n In a recent interview, Ken actor Simu Liu<\/strong><\/a> revealed that an injury almost stopped him from taking the stage with Ryan and their costars Kingsley Ben-Adir<\/strong><\/a>, Ncuti Gatwa<\/strong><\/a> and Scott Evans<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n Thankfully, he was able to work things out. However, he explained what was going on behind the scenes. <\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n While on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna<\/em>, Simu<\/strong> explained that he was recovering from a torn Achilles tendon. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m like four months into recovering from Achilles surgery, but I\u2019m powering through it because I\u2019m like, \u2018I feel like this is going to be a historic moment that I would never forgive myself if I wasn\u2019t a part of,\u2019\u201d he recalled. <\/p>\n He continued, expressing doubts about the decision: \u201cI definitely was like, \u2018Should I be doing this?\u2019 I was talking to my physio [physical therapist] and he\u2019s like, \u2018Ehhhh.\u2019 But I was like, \u2018Ok, whatever, I\u2019m going to do it.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n Simu<\/strong> tore his Achilles tendon<\/a> in late October 2023.
