It\u2019s (almost) showtime! Beetlejuice 2<\/em> officially wrapped filming more than 35 years after its beloved predecessor hit theaters in 1988, becoming an instant critical and commercial hit.<\/p>\n

The OG film follows recently deceased couple Adam (Alec Baldwin<\/strong>) and Barbara Maitland (Geena Davis<\/strong>) as they summon the undead exorcist Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton<\/strong>) to scare off the family who moves into their home after their deaths.<\/p>\n

Beetlejuice<\/em><\/a> director Tim Burton<\/strong> shared an update about the forthcoming sequel via Instagram in November. \u201cJust finished shooting Beetlejuice<\/em> [2<\/em>]. Thank you to everyone involved,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Production on the film paused when the SAG-AFTRA strike began in July and resumed after the labor dispute was resolved<\/a> nearly four months later. In September, Burton told The Independent<\/em> that Beetlejuice 2<\/em> had only \u201ca day and a half\u201d left of shooting when the strike went into effect.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know what we have to do. It is 99 percent done,\u201d the filmmaker said at the time.<\/p>\n
