John Oliver<\/strong><\/a> joked that the royals could be pulling a Weekend at Bernie\u2019s<\/em> with Princess Kate Middleton<\/strong><\/a> after her Mother\u2019s Day photoshop fail.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was out. I thought, \u2018Let\u2019s all just ignore this we\u2019ve moved on,\u2019 until the photoshop thing,\u201d Oliver, 46, said during the Tuesday, March 12, episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThat feels, like, you\u2019re almost handling it in an oppressive way at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oliver was referencing Kate\u2019s Mother\u2019s Day photo<\/a> taken by her husband, Prince William<\/strong>, and posted via Kensington Palace\u2019s social media accounts on Sunday, March 10. Fans quickly noticed a series of editing mistakes on the portrait, which featured the princess with the couple\u2019s children<\/a> \u2014 Prince George<\/strong>, 10, Princess Charlotte<\/strong>, 8, and Prince Louis<\/strong>, 5 \u2014 and began questioning if the picture was manipulated.<\/p>\n

Kate explained the reasoning behind the editing glitches in a statement via X the following day, crediting them to her being an \u201camateur photographer\u201d experimenting \u201cwith editing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans began to take notice of the royals\u2019 scandalous behavior when Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana announced their separation in 1992 after 10 [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIsn\u2019t their motto, \u2018Never complain never explain?\u2019\u201d host Andy Cohen asked Oliver during Tuesday\u2019s WWHL<\/em>. \u201cAnd then they have her explaining on Twitter?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a non-zero chance she died 18 months ago,\u201d Oliver joked in response. \u201cThey might be Weekend at Bernie\u2019s<\/em>-ing this situation. I\u2019m not saying it happened, but I\u2019m saying it\u2019s non-zero until proven otherwise. Until we see her sitting there with a copy of the day\u2019s paper.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kate has been out of the spotlight since undergoing abdominal surgery in January. At the time, Kensington Palace announced that the \u201cplanned\u201d procedure would take her away from her royal duties until Easter. \u201cThe surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery,\u201d a statement via the palace\u2019s social media accounts read. \u201cBased on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the Palace\u2019s explanation, royal family supporters have raised their eyebrows over Kate\u2019s whereabouts in recent weeks after William, 41, briefly stepped away from his own duties to aid in her recovery.<\/p>\n

Kate was spotted for the first time earlier this month when TMZ published a photo of her driving with her mother, Carole Middleton.<\/strong> She was spotted again<\/a> alongside her husband in a car leaving Windsor Castle on Monday, March 11, according to a photo obtained by the Daily Mail<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

At the time, the outlet reported that Kate would \u201cnot be attending<\/a>\u201d the Commonwealth Day service with William and \u201cwas heading to a private appointment instead.\u201d<\/p>\n

William was once again solo at the Chapel Royal in St. James\u2019s Palace in London on Tuesday for a private ceremony<\/a> honoring King Charles III\u2019s<\/strong> late cousin Thomas Kingston<\/strong>, who died last month at the age of 45. Charles, 75, was also not in attendance, as he continues to pull back on his royal duties following his recent cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n
