Joel McHale<\/strong><\/a> revealed the campus of Greendale Community College sometimes broke out into chaos thanks to his contentious relationship with costar Chevy Chase<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

McHale, 52, and Chase, 80, appeared together on the NBC comedy for five seasons from 2009 to 2014, with things sometimes escalating to real-life violence.<\/p>\n

On a recent episode of the \u201cInside of You With Michael Rosenbaum<\/a>\u201d podcast, McHale said he and Chase got into fistfights \u201cmultiple times.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was advanced horseplay,\u201d McHale joked. \u201cAnd then it always turned into sex.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\u201cTV\u2019s the best dad there is.\u201d Community has a complicated history, but its dedicated fan base has turned the series into a cult favorite. The sitcom, created by Dan Harmon, aired its first five seasons on NBC from 2009 to 2014. The broadcast network later declined to renew the show for a sixth season, leaving [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But things were far from a laughing matter on set, with McHale admitting things would get \u201ca little contentious\u201d between the two.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got in trouble this one time because I injured him,\u201d McHale said. \u201cI dislocated his shoulder.\u201d<\/p>\n

Things between the actors were so bad that McHale even dedicated an entire chapter to how to fight Chase in his 2016 book, \u201cThanks For The Money.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Rosenbaum asked McHale if he thought Chase understood he could \u201cbe an asshole,\u201d McHale responded, \u201cI would assume so. I would think so.\u201d<\/p>\n

Us Weekly reached out to representatives for Chase and Sony Pictures Television for comment but has not heard back.<\/p>\n

McHale also responded to recent comments made by Chase on the \u201cWTF with Marc Maron\u201d podcast<\/a> in September 2023, when Chase said Community<\/i> was \u201cnot funny enough for me.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

The revelation wasn\u2019t news to McHale, who recalled Chase declaring his lines weren\u2019t\u00a0 \u201cfunny enough for me to memorize.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was not a prison sentence,\u201d McHale continued. \u201cWe were not conscripted into a war. You were being paid a lot of money and getting free food all day long. So, you could just walk away.\u201d<\/p>\n

As it turned out, host Rosenbaum \u2014 best known for his portrayal of Lex Luthor on Smallville<\/i><\/a> \u2014 also had a memorable run-in with Chase.<\/p>\n

Rosenbaum claimed that he \u201chad never seen that side that everybody else saw\u201d of Chase until the two were introduced by Rosenbaum\u2019s friend and Chase\u2019s Vacation costar Beverly D\u2019Angelo<\/strong> at a convention. When Rosenbaum told Chase that they had actually met before, he received a very cold shoulder.<\/p>\n
