Michelle Yeoh<\/strong><\/a> had the sweetest reason for passing Emma Stone\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> Oscar off to Jennifer Lawrence<\/strong><\/a> at the 96th Academy Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Yeoh, 61, along with Lawrence, 33, Sally Field<\/strong>, Charlize Theron<\/strong> and Jessica Lange<\/strong> all took the stage to present the Best Actress award at the Sunday, March 10, ceremony. After naming Stone, 35, as the winner<\/a>, Yeoh confused viewers when quickly handing the trophy to Lawrence who then passed it to Stone.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to share that glorious moment of handing over Oscar to you together with your best friend Jennifer!!\u201d Yeoh explained via Instagram<\/a> on Monday, March 11, alongside a slideshow of photos from the night. \u201cShe reminded me of my Bae Jamie Lee Curtis<\/strong> \u2665\ufe0f\u2728.\u201d\u00a0 (Yeoh and Curtis both starred in Everything Everywhere All at Once<\/em>, taking home the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress Oscars, respectively, in 2023.)<\/p>\n

Yeoh then praised Stone and Lawrence for their years-long friendship, writing that the two women are \u201calways there for each other!! \ud83d\ude18\ud83d\ude18\ud83d\ude18.\u201d She concluded the message, \u201cCongratulations<\/span>\u00a0Emma!!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe 2024 awards season came to a close with the 96th annual Academy Awards on Sunday, March 10. Nominations were announced in January, with Christopher Nolan\u2019s Oppenheimer earning the most nods. Among its 13 nominations are Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor for Cillian Murphy. (It won more than any other [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

All the women who took the stage to present with Yeoh previously received the Best Actress award, with Lawrence winning in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook<\/em>. Field won twice for Norma Rae<\/em> and Places in the Heart<\/em> in 1979 and 1984, respectively, while Lange took home the statue in 1995 for Blue Sky<\/em>. Theron received the accolade in 2004 for her role in Monster<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Stone, meanwhile, beat out Lily Gladstone<\/strong> in Killers of the Flower Moon<\/em>, Annette Bening<\/strong> in NYAD<\/em>, Carey Mulligan<\/strong> in Maestro<\/em> and Sandra H\u00fcller<\/strong> in Anatomy of a Fall<\/em>. She earned the nod for her part as Bella Baxter in Yorgos Lanthimos\u2018<\/strong> Poor Things<\/em>, marking her second time winning the award after first receiving it for 2017\u2019s La La Land<\/em>. (Stone\u2019s other past nominations include Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Birdman<\/em> in 2015 and The Favourite<\/em> in 2019. She was also up for Best Picture this year for her work as a producer on Poor Things<\/em>.)<\/p>\n
