As soon as Katie Britt finished the GOP response to President Biden’s State of the Union speech, commenters online were instantly predicting that <\/span>Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/a> would be mocking it during this week’s cold open.<\/span><\/p>\n

True to form, <\/span>SNL<\/span><\/em> did not disappoint — and they got some good old fashion star power to help (in the vein of <\/span>SNL<\/span><\/em> political cameos from Alec Baldwin, Matt Damon, Melissa McCarthy, Robert DeNiro and many others during the Trump Administration).<\/span><\/p>\n

After Mikey Day delivered his solid impression of an energetic President Biden delivering his well-received speech, the sketch introduced the rebuttal, with <\/span>Scarlett Johansson<\/a> playing the Republican Senator from Alabama, and her controversial speech.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Good evening, America.\u00a0My name is Katie Britt,\u00a0and I have the honor of serving\u00a0the great people of Alabama.\u00a0But tonight, I’ll be auditioning\u00a0for the part of scary mom,” Johansson’s Britt explained, “And I’ll be performing an\u00a0original monologue called ‘This\u00a0Country Is Hell.'”<\/span><\/p>\n

“You see, I’m not just a senator,\u00a0I’m a wife, a mother, and the\u00a0craziest bitch in the target\u00a0parking lot,” she continued. “I’m worried about the future of\u00a0our children, and this is why\u00a0I’ve invited you into this\u00a0strange, empty kitchen.\u00a0Because Republicans wanted me to\u00a0appeal to women voters, and\u00a0women love kitchen.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Johansson’s Britt explained that she’s a politician, “But first and foremost, I’m a\u00a0mom.\u00a0And like any mom, I’m going to\u00a0do a pivot out of nowhere into a\u00a0shockingly violent story about\u00a0sex trafficking.\u00a0And rest assured, every detail\u00a0about it is real, except the\u00a0year, where it took place, and\u00a0who was president when it\u00a0happened.”<\/span><\/p>\n

After briefly turning the GOP response into a QVC sales pitch for fancy watches, Britt got things back on track, and turned the attention back to the unusual setting of her response.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Kitchens are where families have the hard conversations. Like the one we’ll have tomorrow about how mommy freaked out the entire country,” Johansson’s Britt quipped.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Toward the end of her rebuttal, Johansson’s Britt delightfully declared how her tea was ready, and then pulled out a tea cup and ran a metal spoon along the rim — a la Catherine Keener’s villainous character from\u00a0<\/span>Get Out.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The appearance from Johansson (who also played Ivanka Trump in past surprise cameos) is easy to understand, considering she’s married to SNL head writer Colin Jost, it’s cool to see the show bringing on some star power as the election season begins to heat up.<\/span><\/p>\n

Saturday Night Live<\/span><\/em>\u00a0airs live, coast-to-coast at 11:30p.m. ET\/ 8:30 p.m. PT on NBC.\u00a0In addition to the broadcast on NBC,\u00a0<\/span>SNL<\/span><\/em>\u00a0streams live on Peacock.<\/span><\/p>\n
