Epic Games will be able to open its iOS app store in the European Union after all. The game publisher had its developer license revoked by Apple earlier this week, but Epic Games now says<\/a> that Apple has reversed its decision following an inquiry from the European Commission.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n In an update on its website<\/a>, Epic Games says Apple has \u201ccommitted to the European Commission that they will reinstate our developer account.\u201d The company is now \u201cmoving forward as planned to launch the Epic Games Store and bring Fortnite<\/em> back to iOS in Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Apple confirmed the decision in an email to The Verge<\/em>. \u201cFollowing conversations with Epic, they have committed to follow the rules, including our [Digital Markets Act] policies,\u201d said Apple spokesperson Fred Sainz. \u201cAs a result, Epic Sweden AB has been permitted to re-sign the developer agreement and accepted into the Apple Developer Program.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe DMA went through its first major challenge with Apple banning Epic Games Sweden from competing with the App Store, and the DMA just had its first major victory,\u201d Sweeney writes in a post on X<\/a>. \u201cFollowing a swift inquiry by the European Commission, Apple notified the Commission and Epic that it would relent and restore our access to bring back Fortnite<\/em> and launch Epic Games Store in Europe under the DMA law.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
