“Parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, after unsuccessful attempts to sell the unprofitable fandom, gaming and comedy entertainment division, is shutting down Rooster Teeth\u2019s operations. RT general manager Jordan Levin announced the shutdown of Austin-based Rooster Teeth at an all-hands meeting Wednesday and in a memo distributed to staff.<\/p>\n
The closure of Rooster Teeth will result in layoffs of its approximately 150 full-time employees and will throw dozens of contractors and content creators out of work as well.” (via Variety<\/a>)<\/p>\n
Rooster Teeth (founded 21 years ago) is known for some of it’s popular IP’s Red Vs Blue (machinamated using the Halo video game), RWBY (anime web series), and gen:LOCK (mecha futuristic web series with some big celeb voices like Michael B. Jordan, Maisie Williams, and David Tennant). <\/p>\nThey also have a successful podcast network, The Roost, that hosts their podcasts (Face Jam, Red Web, F**kface, Tales from the Stinky Dragon, etc) and more that aren’t a part of the company like Let’s Get Weird, H3 Podcast, Dead Meat, and more.<\/p>\n
According to Levin, “The Roost Podcast Network will remain in operation \u201cwhile WBD evaluates outside interest in acquiring this growing asset”.<\/p>\n
