Netflix’s popular series, Queer Eye<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, has encountered some challenges off-camera, according to recent reports. Notably, there have been discussions around the departure of design expert Bobby Berk<\/a><\/strong> and other issues the production faced while filming the latest season in New Orleans.<\/p>\n

Sources characterized Van Ness as an emotionally \u201cabusive\u201d \u201cmonster\u201d and \u201cnightmare,\u201d who had \u201crage issues\u201d and was constantly putting people down on set. This atmosphere reportedly affected relations among the entire cast, including the other four members of the Fab Five.<\/p>\n

\u201c[There\u2019s] a real emotion of fear around them when they get angry. It\u2019s almost like a cartoon where it oozes out of them. It\u2019s intense and scary,\u201d a source said of Van Ness, who uses he\/she\/they pronouns. One staffer estimated that they would have an outburst at least once a week. (\u201cHe was a yeller,\u201d they said.) Another said that it was \u201cat least once a day\u201d that \u201cthey would need to yell at somebody. It might be something small, but there\u2019s always going to be somebody to point out and blame and make the villain of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen he comes on set, everything changes if he\u2019s in a bad mood,\u201d a source shared. \u201cWorking with him is very difficult in any capacity.\u201d This apparently extended even to the other members of the Fab Five\u2014Berk, Karamo Brown<\/a><\/strong>, Antoni Porowski<\/a><\/strong>, and Tan France<\/a><\/strong>\u2014whom they \u201cdidn\u2019t want to ever share the spotlight with.\u201d \u201cThere were times when we couldn\u2019t even shoot scenes with certain members of the Fab Five together because it got so bad,\u201d the source continued.<\/p>\n

The dynamics on set seemingly contributed to Berk’s decision not to return to the show following Netflix’s unexpected renewal for another season. This decision was revealed amidst broader context involving the entertainment industry’s challenges, such as strikes by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA.<\/p>\n
