Now that most of the Madame Web<\/i> dust has settled, Dakota Johnson<\/strong><\/a> admitted she\u2019s not surprised things got so tangled.<\/p>\n

Johnson, 34, starred in the superhero movie<\/a>, which has been roundly derided by critics and ignored by audiences since its February 14 release. She now says she could see things veering off course well before the reviews and receipts started coming in.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes in this industry, you sign on to something and it\u2019s one thing and then as you\u2019re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you\u2019re like, \u2018Wait, what?\u2019\u201d she told Bustle <\/i><\/a>in an interview published Tuesday, March 5. \u201cBut it was a real learning experience, and of course it\u2019s not nice to be a part of something that\u2019s ripped to shreds, but I can\u2019t say that I don\u2019t understand.\u201d<\/p>\n

If nothing else, Johnson explained, Madame Web <\/i>will only help inform her career choices moving forward.<\/p>\n

Johnson, who plays Cassandra \u201cCassie\u201d Webb\/Madame Web in the movie, rocked a custom Gucci gown at the Monday, February 12, premiere at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles. Equipped with a plunging neckline and bedazzled netted skirt, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt was definitely an experience for me to make that movie,\u201d she explained. \u201cI had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again because I don\u2019t make sense in that world. And I know that now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ultimately, Johnson said she\u2019s \u201cnot surprised\u201d the Madame Web rollout and reception has gone down the way it has, and she expressed concern for what it might mean for the industry overall.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so hard to get movies made, and in these big movies that get made \u2014 and it\u2019s even starting to happen with the little ones, which is what\u2019s really freaking me out \u2014 decisions are being made by committees, and art does not do well when it\u2019s made by committee,\u201d Johnson articulated. \u201cFilms are made by a filmmaker and a team of artists around them. You cannot make art based on numbers and algorithms.\u201d<\/p>\n

In fact, Johnson expressed admiration for moviegoers for being able to see Madame Web <\/i>for what it was.<\/p>\n
