Chaka Khan<\/strong><\/a> is backtracking on her comments over Rolling Stone<\/em>‘s Greatest Singers list and apologizing.<\/p>\n The 69-year-old legendary songstress issued an apology on social media over the weekend and clarifying her stance on the list.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more…<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n If you missed it, Chaka <\/strong>was questioned about the list that Rolling Stone put out, and shared her opinion <\/a>on those who were listed higher than herself.<\/p>\n For context, Chaka <\/strong>was listed at #29 out of 200 singers, but did not top Adele<\/strong><\/a>, Beyonce<\/strong><\/a> or Mariah Carey<\/strong><\/a>. Barbra Streisand<\/strong><\/a>, Cher<\/strong><\/a>, nor Celine Dion<\/strong><\/a> weren’t even on the list.<\/p>\n In her apology, she also mentioned how she was cornered into answering the question, as well.<\/p>\n “Recently, I was asked about a list of the ‘greatest singers of all time’ and instead of questioning the need for such a list, I was pitted against other artists and I took the bait,” she shared on Instagram<\/a>. “As artists, we are unfairly put into ‘boxes’, ‘categories’ or on ‘lists.’ Being an artist or musician is not a competition. It\u2019s a gift, for which I am truly grateful.”<\/p>\n Chaka <\/strong>went on, saying, “It was not my intention to cause pain or upset anyone. To anyone that felt this way, I sincerely apologize. Thank you for all the love everyone has shown me, unconditionally. I have always been about empowering others and I started a foundation for that very purpose. I will be announcing soon.”<\/p>\n “Empowering all artists is most important because we truly are the architects of change…and change begins within the heart,” she concluded. “I love you all and God bless.”<\/p>\n
