Amber Riley<\/strong><\/a> revealed that she put her foot down when Glee<\/em><\/a> writers crafted a sex scene for her character Mercedes Jones.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was supposed to be an episode where she lost her virginity to Sam [Chord Overstreet<\/strong>] and I told [executive producer] Brad [Falchuk]<\/strong>, \u2018Absolutely not,\u201d Riley, 38, revealed during the Thursday, February 29, episode of \u201cAnd That\u2019s What You REALLY Missed<\/a>\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe gave me the blue pages [where it] was written and I said, \u2018No,\u201d she added of the surprising storyline.<\/p>\n

Riley\u2019s former costars Jenna Ushkowitz<\/strong> and Kevin McHale<\/strong>, who are the hosts of the Glee<\/em> recap podcast, laughed in shock as they heard the behind-the-scenes scoop that they had no idea went down during the time.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLea Michele and more Glee alums have found their happily ever afters off-screen. The Fox musical drama aired for six seasons between 2009 and 2015. Michele and late costar Cory Monteith played New Directions leaders Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson, respectively, and sparked a real-life romance while playing the high school sweethearts. They dated until [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201c[Brad] said, \u2018OK, well what if instead of\u2026\u2019 because it was like a full-blown scene that I said, \u2018I\u2019m not doing it.\u2019 He said, \u2018Well, what if we just you know, have you guys hold hands and walk into the room and then like close the door?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Riley remembered not being impressed by the alternative angle pitched to her, saying she shot down that idea too. \u201cI was like, \u2018No.\u201d<\/p>\n

McHale, 35, praised Riley for her actions at the time, saying, \u201cAmazing. Respect.\u201d<\/p>\n

Riley continued to detail the storyline\u2019s situation further, explaining that it was something she couldn\u2019t get behind.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018I\u2019m not doing it. I don\u2019t ever tell you guys \u2018no.\u2019 I don\u2019t fight about anything\u2026 But, this?!?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress went on to mention there were several reasons why she wasn\u2019t a fan of that particular direction the show wanted her character to go in.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt just would have been so awkward, and I feel like it would have read awkward,\u201d she stated. \u201cI also just feel like, yeah, it wasn\u2019t what my character would have done. I just didn\u2019t feel that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

On season 5 of Glee<\/em>, Mercedes had declared that she wasn\u2019t ready to have sex and wanted to wait for marriage, and Riley felt her character \u201cshould stick to her guns.\u201d<\/p>\n

The hosts applauded her and mentioned how it\u2019s important to pick your battles when working on sets, to which Riley replied, \u201cI picked it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite that one scenario, Riley said looking back now, she loved acting alongside Overstreet, now 35, and she has no other bad memories when it came to the sitcom\u2019s script.<\/p>\n

\u201cChord [was] sweet,\u201d she opened up. \u201cHe\u2019s just so sweet. It was very much so like his character. He\u2019s like boy Bambi.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was Ryan Murphy\u2018s third series, following teen drama Popular and dark medical drama Nip\/Tuck. The series focused on the William McKinley High School glee club, the New Directions, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, the actress did confess that she was nervous at first to be in an onscreen relationship with Overstreet.<\/p>\n
