If there\u2019s one thing Dick Wolf<\/strong> isn\u2019t afraid of, it\u2019s killing off<\/a> a beloved character. A fact that fans of the One Chicago universe<\/a> know all too well.<\/p>\n The franchise kicked off in 2012 with Chicago Fire<\/em><\/a>. Chicago P.D.<\/em><\/a> was added in 2014 and Chicago Med<\/em><\/a> debuted in 2015. The cast of each show has changed drastically through the years, including the death of Leslie Shay (Lauren German<\/strong>) on Chicago Fire<\/em> in 2014.<\/p>\n Shay\u2019s former paramedic partner, Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund<\/strong>), decided to willingly walk away<\/a> from the show in 2018. When Raymund exited \u2014 and Gabby took a job in Puerto Rico \u2014 creator Derek Haas<\/strong> said he was hopeful she\u2019d return.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not the end as far as I\u2019m concerned. It may not happen right away, but there is more of that story to be told,\u201d he tweeted after her announcement<\/a>. \u201cI hope we keep going for seasons to come and get a chance to tell it. I won\u2019t stop hoping if you won\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n
