Scheana Shay<\/strong><\/a> explained why she and Brock Davies<\/strong> have opted out of couples therapy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did one session [during] season 9 [of Vanderpump Rules<\/em><\/a>]. And it never aired,\u201d Shay, 38, recalled on the Friday, February 23, episode of the \u201cJeff Lewis Has Issues\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cThen we were getting ready last year to go into couples therapy. But instead of that, we saw [psychiatrist and brain disorder specialist] Dr. Amen for a brain scan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shay and Davies, 32, were told by their doctor to hit pause on their joint therapy plans.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201c[Dr. Amen] said, \u2018Please hold off on couples therapy. Let me try and get your brain chemistry aligned before you go into therapy.\u2019 He\u2019s like, \u2018I\u2019ve literally kept couples out of couples therapy,’\u201d she recalled. \u201cSo we\u2019re on this supplement program that has literally changed our brain chemistry and we are not arguing as much as we were before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shay clarified that she and Davies were still in individual therapy, adding, \u201cI\u2019ve done a lot of EMDR therapy in the past year as well, which has been extremely beneficial.\u201d<\/p>\n

The reality star previously opened up to Us Weekly<\/em> about how therapy has helped her cope with solo parenting. (Shay and Davies share 2-year-old daughter Summer<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s always been so many fears around being alone, and I know those are never going to end. There\u2019s always going to be something to worry about,\u201d she said in October 2023. \u201cEven 38 years [later], my mom still worries about me and that\u2019s just never going to end. So I accepted that part of motherhood, but the fears around doing things by myself, with her, I was like, \u2018This is something I need to get over because I\u2019m going to be missing out on life experiences with her if I always need someone there.\u2019 Brock can\u2019t always be there. My mom can\u2019t always be there, but if I\u2019m there with Summer, I\u2019m all she needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhile Scheana Shay has stated on several occasions that she would accept a job passing out roses on The Bachelorette, the Vanderpump Rules star does alright finding dates on her own! \u201cI would be the Bachelorette. [But] I don\u2019t want to go on The Bachelor to become the Bachelorette,\u201d Scheana told Us Weekly in March [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Before viewers watched the couple tackle the challenges of parenthood on screen, Shay shared her coping mechanisms<\/a>, telling Us<\/em>, \u201cThrough working in therapy, being diagnosed with OCD and learning what exposure therapy is, [taking Summer to Disneyland] was right up there with taking her on a plane by myself. And honestly, I think TSA on a flight would be way easier than Disneyland.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shay previously elaborated about conquering motherhood fears<\/a> after she took Summer to Disneyland by herself. In a September 2023 social media post, Shay broke down what has caused her anxiety<\/a> when it came to taking care of Summer.<\/p>\n
