Henson<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n After the 53-year-old The Color Purple<\/em> actress went viral for addressing pay disparities in Hollywood as a Black woman, the 52-year-old Red Table Talk<\/em> star spoke out in her defense.<\/p>\n While appearing on NPR<\/a>\u2019s It\u2019s Been a Minute<\/em>, Jada<\/strong> was asked by host Brittany Luse<\/strong> if she resonated with Taraji<\/strong>\u2018s comments.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAbsolutely,\u201d she said. \u201cMy heart broke for Taraji<\/strong>, and I was also happy [to see] how courageous she was to speak about it in the way that she did.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cOne of the things with Taraji<\/strong> is that she is the breadwinner of her family. Her pressures would be different than mine. I have to put that out front, because if it\u2019s time to walk away, that\u2019s not always the solution.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBecause what people don\u2019t understand with us as Black entertainers, we carry a lot of people with us,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n \u201cPeople would literally say, \u2018Well, you don\u2019t need [more money]. You\u2019re married to Will [Smith]<\/strong><\/a>,\u2019\u201d she went on to say.<\/p>\n She also said it \u201chas a lot to do with\u201d why she rarely takes on acting roles now.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not to say that I won\u2019t get in front of the camera, but what it takes for me to get in front of the camera, it\u2019s more \u2014 just in regards to the kind of roles that I want to play or that interest me.\u201d<\/p>\n She also revealed the surprising reason she\u2019s grateful for that Oscars slap.<\/a><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
