As Jane Austen<\/b> once said, \u201cA lady\u2019s imagination is very rapid,\u201d and so, it\u2019s quite important to keep it preoccupied with ingenious movies and series. What could be better than watching a program inspired by Austen\u2019s greatest works?<\/p>\n
While Austen\u2019s Pride and Prejudice, Emma <\/i>and Sense and Sensibility <\/i>have been adapted for the big screens, some put a modern-day twist on the classic prose. Clueless<\/i>, which came out in 1995, is one of the most notable modern adaptations <\/span>of an Austenian classic.<\/p>\n \u201cYou don\u2019t go, \u2018You know what, the world needs an adaptation of Emma<\/i> and mine will be genius,\u201d director Amy<\/b><\/span> Heckerling<\/b> told Town & Country<\/i><\/span><\/a> in July 2020. \u201cYou find yourself driving around wondering, \u2018What am I going to do next,\u2019 and thinking, \u2018I stink, and everybody hates me.\u2019 Then you start to wonder, \u2018What do I like and what makes me happy?\u2019 \u2026 You really had to want to do what you were working on. I started to think of what really amused me, which was very positive characters; I just don\u2019t understand how people can go around being positive and it kind of cracks me up.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, <\/span>\u201cI started to think what if there was a teenage girl who, no matter what was happening, couldn\u2019t have her bubble burst \u2026 [and] I started to think of what the equivalent would be in the world I was living in, in California in the 1990s.\u201d<\/p>\n
