The cast of Succession<\/em> received recognition at the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards<\/a> for their work over the past year.<\/p>\n

Succession<\/em> \u2014 which starred Jeremy Strong<\/strong>, Sarah Snook<\/strong>, Kieran Culkin<\/strong> and Matthew Macfadyen\u00a0<\/strong> \u2014 won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series during the Saturday, February 24, ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles. The Crown<\/em>, The Gilded Age<\/em>, The Last of Us <\/em>and\u00a0The Morning Show<\/em>\u00a0were also nominated in the category<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Alan Ruck<\/strong>, who played Connor Roy, led the group\u2019s acceptance speech. \u201cOne last hurrah, I think,\u201d Ruck, 67, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now, you\u2019re looking at some of the luckiest people on the planet and some of the most grateful. Because not only did we get to work on one of the most amazing television shows, maybe ever, we made friends for life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since awards season kicked off in January, Succession<\/em> has won a vast array of trophies. The HBO show earned Best Television Series \u2013 Drama at the 2024 Golden Globes<\/a> and Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series at the 2023 Emmy Awards<\/a> last month. As for the cast, Culkin,\u00a0Snook and\u00a0Macfadyen took home awards in their respective acting categories at both events.<\/p>\n

Succession<\/em> wrapped up its four-season run in May 2023. \u201cI\u2019ve never thought this could go on forever,\u201d series creator Jesse Armstrong<\/strong> explained to The New Yorker<\/em><\/a> in February 2023. \u201cThe end has always been kind of present in my mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

Armstrong noted that he wanted to conclude the show while it was still in its prime. \u201cWe could go on for ages and turn the show into something rather different, and be a more rangy, freewheeling kind of fun show, where there would be good weeks and bad weeks,\u201d he said. \u201cOr we could do something a bit more muscular and complete, and go out sort of strong. And that was definitely always my preference.\u201d<\/p>\n
