Oppenheimer<\/em> received a top honor at the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards<\/a> on Saturday, February 24.<\/p>\n

The stars of the film, including Cillian Murphy<\/strong>, Emily Blunt<\/strong>, Robert Downey Jr.<\/strong> and more, won Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the awards show, which was held at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles. The movie competed against<\/a> Barbie<\/em>, Killers of the Flower Moon<\/em>, American Fiction<\/em> and The Color Purple<\/em> in the category.<\/p>\n

Kenneth Branagh<\/strong>, who played Niels Bohr in the film, led the speech after Murphy previously took the stage for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role. \u201cThank you so much Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas,\u201d Branagh said, thanking the Oppenheimer director and producer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you SAG-AFTRA,\u201d Branagh continued. \u201cThank you for this. Thank you for fighting for us. Thank you to every SAG-AFTRA member whose support and whose sacrifice allowed us to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor recalled how the SAG-AFTRA strike went into affect the night of the July Oppenheimer premiere. \u201c\u201dWe went from the red carpet and we didn\u2019t see the film that night,\u201d he explained. \u201cWe happily went in the direction of solidarity with your good selves. So this is a full-circle moment, and to receive this recognition in a year of spectacular acting achievement \u2026 it means the world to us.\u201d<\/p>\n

The five movies nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture were well-represented in other categories. Barbie<\/em>\u2019s Margot Robbie<\/strong> and Killers of the Flower Moon<\/em>\u2019s Lily Gladstone<\/strong> both received nods for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, while Oppenheimer<\/em>\u2019s Cillian Murphy<\/strong> and American Fiction<\/em>\u2019s Jeffrey Wright<\/strong> were up for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.<\/p>\n

Brown<\/strong> garnered nominations for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role. Barbie<\/em> also scored an additional nod for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture.<\/p>\n

Oppenheimer<\/em> already won big at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards<\/a> in January, with accolades for Best Motion Picture \u2013 Drama, Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture \u2013 Drama for Murphy, Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for Downey Jr., Best Director \u2013 Motion Picture for Christopher Nolan<\/strong> and Best Original Score \u2013 Motion Picture.<\/p>\n
