Ryan Murphy<\/strong>‘s newest project will leave behind the golden-era clash of Truman Capote and his flock of high society swans for a more contemporary threat: the existential terror we all<\/em> seem to feel that something in this world is very, very wrong.<\/p>\n According to a teaser that Murphy’s production company published to Instagram Friday<\/a>, the previously-unannounced series, Grotesquerie<\/em>, will star frequent Murphy collaborator Niecy Nash-Betts.<\/strong> Nash-Betts, who took an outstanding supporting actress Emmy<\/a> home last month for her work in Murphy’s Dahmer<\/em><\/a> \u2013 Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story<\/em>, will be joined by another Murphy favorite: Courtney B. Vance<\/strong>, who also won an Emmy<\/a> for his turn with the prolific creator (he played Johnny Cochran in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story).<\/em> British actress Lesley Manville<\/strong> (Princess Margaret in The Crown<\/em><\/a>) rounds out the cast.<\/p>\n Murphy and his production company are no strangers to the horror genre, of course. Between the fantastical terrors of his lauded American Horror Story<\/em> franchise on FX to the real-life scares in Netflix’s Monster: Dahmer<\/em>, he’s explored our nation’s fears of serial killers<\/a>, cults<\/a>, and reality television<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n His latest entry in the genre, which will premiere this fall, seems to suggest a look at the waves of mean world syndrome<\/a> that have captured American society in recent years. \u201cI don\u2019t know when it started, I can\u2019t put my finger on it, but it\u2019s different now,\u201d we first hear Nash-Betts say. \u201cThere\u2019s been a shift, like something\u2019s opening up in the world\u2014a kind of hole that descends into a nothingness.”<\/p>\n This content can also be viewed on the site it originates<\/a> from.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n \u201cWhat I saw today\u2014they sent shrinks for everyone who worked this crime scene,\u201d She continues. \u201cYou think, \u2018Well hon, evil has always existed,\u2019 and cite some statistic about how the world\u2019s getting better, less murder, more help, less global horror, never been a better time to be alive, honey.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cCome back,\u201d she concludes. \u201cIt\u2019s not getting better. And I keep needing to hear your answers, because something\u2019s happening around us, and nobody sees but me.\u201d<\/p>\n Will this new show basically be American Horror Story: How We All Feel After Looking At Nextdoor.com<\/em>?
