Amanda Seyfried<\/strong><\/a> noticed her art starting to imitate life after she became a mom.<\/p>\n

The Mamma Mia! <\/i>actress, 38, joked in a Berlin Film Festival press conference that she was only offered motherly roles after welcoming her first child, daughter Nina, with husband Thomas Sadoski<\/strong> in 2017. Most recently, Seyfried played Jeanine, a mother and troubled theater director, in Atom Egoya<\/strong>\u2019s Seven Veils.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cIn my career, it\u2019s still a bit new to play a mother,\u201d she explained of how she connected to the dark character. \u201cIt seems like once I popped out a baby, I was just playing mothers, and that\u2019s Hollywood for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cBut I do think that the roles have become way richer and definitely challenging in ways that I didn\u2019t have earlier in my career.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tScarlett Johansson and more celebrity parents have welcomed \u201csecret\u201d babies over the years. Seyfried, who welcomed son Thomas in 2020, could empathize with her Seven Veils<\/em> character. \u201cI felt like Jeanine, specifically as a mother, trying to figure out where she stands in her life as a parent, and as a wife, who is so on the precipice of separating from her husband \u2014 she\u2019s kind of hanging on a thread everywhere and not being taken as seriously as she\u2019d like to in her career, just wanting more,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

Pulling on her own life experiences is nothing new for Seyfried, who added that Jeanine is \u201cvery human, and she\u2019s dealing with things as they come and she\u2019s not a perfect person.\u201d<\/p>\n

The complexities were what drew Seyfried to the role. \u201cI loved showing sides of her that weren\u2019t attractive,\u201d she noted. \u201cI think that\u2019s really necessary in any story, because none of us are perfect.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Seyfried may not see herself as a superwoman, Sadoski, 47, thinks otherwise. He called his wife \u201can incredible mom\u201d<\/a> in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly.<\/em><\/p>\n
