A talented pair! Kerry Washington<\/strong><\/a> and Nnamdi Asomugha<\/strong><\/a> met by chance in 2009 and the couple\u2019s connection has only grown since.<\/p>\n The former Oakland Raiders player<\/a> met the Scandal<\/em><\/a> alum while she was doing a production of Race<\/em>. \u201cThe last time I did theater, it completely transformed my life,\u201d she revealed in an October 2021 interview with Marie Claire<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s where I met my husband.\u201d<\/p>\n The twosome continued to date and secretly tied the knot<\/a> in Hailey, Idaho, in June 2013. Four months after their nuptials, Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed that Washington was expecting her first child<\/a> with the NFL star. (Asomugha also has a daughter from a previous relationship.)<\/p>\n In January 2014, the Little Fires Everywhere<\/em> actress showed off her baby bump<\/a> while attending the Golden Globes. \u201cI feel like I have the best date of the night,\u201d Washington gushed on the red carpet at the time. \u201cMy little accessory tonight.\u201d Asomugha later joined his pregnant wife<\/a> as her plus-one at an after party.<\/p>\n Four months later, the couple secretly welcomed their daughter Isabelle<\/a>. In May 2016, Us<\/em> confirmed that the parents were expanding their family again<\/a>, and Washington gave birth to son Caleb<\/a> that October.<\/p>\n The School for Good and Evil<\/em><\/a> star opened up about being \u201cvigilant\u201d when it comes to keeping her three children out of the spotlight in March 2020.<\/p>\n \u201cThese are their lives. But it\u2019s not about pulling a Rapunzel and hiding them away in a castle from the world \u2014 we don\u2019t want to do that,\u201d she told InStyle<\/em><\/a> at the time. \u201cI think any parent would want to keep kids from a situation that causes them to feel scared. I don\u2019t want them to be exploited, particularly in this social-media world.\u201d<\/p>\n After retiring from football in 2013, Asomugha dabbled in some acting projects and even produced the 2018 Broadway revival of American Son<\/em>, starring his wife. \u201cIt\u2019s been great,\u201d she exclusively told Us <\/em><\/a>at the play\u2019s opening night in November 2018 of working together.<\/p>\n In October 2022, Washington would go on to praise her partner for his role in the Netflix film, The Good Nurse<\/em>. \u201cI\u2019m really proud of him, I think he\u2019s doing amazing work,\u201d she said to Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a>, adding that she was \u201creally excited for his film.\u201d The New York native had her film, The School for Good and Evil<\/em>, premiering on the streaming service that same day.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s really exciting to both have really important films at Netflix right now, we feel really blessed,\u201d Washington said at the time.<\/p>\n
