Usher<\/a>\u00a0is known for being a showman to the nth degree, but even the 45-year-old crooner can admit that he has moments he regrets.\u00a0During Monday’s episode of\u00a0<\/span>The Breakfast Club,\u00a0<\/span><\/em>the recent\u00a0Apple Music <\/span>Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show\u00a0headliner<\/a>\u00a0reflected on a\u00a0resurfaced clip of him smacking <\/span>Nicki Minaj<\/a>‘s butt during their 2014 MTV Video Music Awards performance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “Have you seen some of your old moments, like when you were onstage with Nicki Minaj and you were head buttin’ her a**? Why was you so unhinged?” host Charlamagne Tha God asked him of the performance, which also included Usher slapping the “Super Freaky Girl” rapper’s butt.<\/span><\/p>\n During the performance of their 2014 collab, “She Came to Give It to You,”\u00a0Usher played the bass while on his knees as Minaj, 41, rapped. At one point, Usher bumps his shoulder and his head against Minaj’s bottom to the beat before getting up and spanking her.<\/span><\/p>\n As\u00a0Usher told Charlamagne and his co-host, Jess Hilarious, he was “inspired” by Jamaica’s\u00a0dance culture.<\/span><\/p>\n “That was Jamaican culture! So you gotta go to Jamaica. That was just a moment that was fun,” he quipped, initially trying to laugh off the moment. “By the way, it was me playing my bass, so I probably would’ve bumped my shoulder or my hand, but I had my bass in my hand and I was playing, so I kind of bopped off her body a little bit. If you go back and look at the video, you’ll understand because I did it there for the first time.”<\/span><\/p>\n But the singer ultimately conceded that he was “reaching a bit” with the impromptu spanking onstage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “I think I was reaching a bit when I smacked her, though,” Usher admitted. “I shouldn’t have smacked her. I shouldn’t have did that.”<\/span><\/p>\n Jess chimed in, referencing Usher talking about supporting fellow Black artists earlier in the interview, “See, you gotta lift her up!”<\/span><\/p>\n “I was lifting!” the singer playfully responded.<\/span><\/p>\n The clip of the duo’s duet resurfaced on social media after <\/span>Usher’s Super Bowl LVIII halftime performance<\/a>, in which the singer brought\u00a0<\/span>Alicia Keys<\/a>\u00a0onstage to perform their\u00a02004 hit, “My Boo.”<\/span><\/p>\n The performance\u00a0<\/span>sparked a lot of speculation regarding the intimacy of the number<\/a>, with jokes and memes suggesting Keys’ husband, <\/span>Swizz Beatz<\/a>, should be concerned about the performance.<\/span><\/p>\n Despite the fan jokes and insinuations,\u00a0<\/span>Beatz wasn’t fazed by all the chatter<\/a>\u00a0and chose to celebrate his wife’s big moment after her halftime show performance.<\/span><\/p>\n “Y’all talking about the wrong damn thing !!! y\u2019all don\u2019t see that amazing dress covering the entire stadium \u26a1\ufe0f\ud83d\udea8\ud83d\ude02\ud83d\ude02\ud83d\ude2e\u200d\ud83d\udca8\ud83d\ude2e\u200d\ud83d\udca8\ud83d\ude2e\u200d\ud83d\udca8\ud83d\ude2e\u200d\ud83d\udca8,” the producer wrote\u00a0<\/span>on Instagram<\/a>. “Tonight\u2019s performance was nothing but amazing with 2 amazing Giants ! Congrats @usher and my love @aliciakeys that song is a classic \ud83e\udd0d We don\u2019t do negative vibes on this side we make history \u270c\ud83c\udffd Go see GIANTS at @brooklynmuseum it\u2019s open until July blessings \ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffd\ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffd\ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffd\ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffd\ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffd\ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffd\ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffd.”<\/span><\/p>\n And, as the\u00a0“Love in This Club” singer explained to the\u00a0<\/span>Breakfast Club<\/span><\/em>\u00a0hosts, there’s no bad blood between the trio.<\/span><\/p>\n “No, it was literally about having fun because of a song that me and Alicia made many years ago,” Usher explained. “We celebrated because of the legacy of it,\u00a0and [meant] no disrespect to anybody.”<\/span><\/p>\n When asked if he’s had a chance to speak with Keys and Beatz <\/span>about the performance<\/a> — and the subsequent flood of memes, jokes and innuendo that followed — Usher said, “Absolutely! We’ve laughed about it… it’s all love.”<\/span><\/p>\n Besides, Usher is too busy celebrating <\/span>his recent nuptials<\/a> to bother with fan-made rumors!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The\u00a0“Caught Up” singer and\u00a0his longtime girlfriend, Jennifer “Jenn” Goicoechea, <\/span>officially tied the knot<\/a>\u00a0just after Usher took to the Super Bowl stage\u00a0inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Feb. 11.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n People<\/em><\/a>\u00a0was the first to report the news after the couple\u00a0<\/span>filed for a marriage license<\/a>\u00a0with Las Vegas’s Clark County clerk on Feb. 8.<\/span><\/p>\n Usher’s rep later confirmed the happy news to ET, saying, “We can confirm that USHER and Jennifer Goicoechea took the next step in their relationship and did get married\u00a0on Sunday night\u00a0in Las Vegas surrounded by close friends and family. They both look forward to continuing to raise their children together surrounded by love and thank everyone for the well wishes.”<\/span><\/p>\n
