I feel like she might want to be heard a bit more,\u201d <strong>Fraser Olender<\/strong> told the cameras on Monday, February 19, after noticing Cat had trouble adjusting to the interior team. \u201cI never had someone to look after me in this scary industry. And so I want to be that for someone else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cat subsequently surprised Fraser when she revealed that Baugh <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/entertainment\/pictures\/stars-who-love-below-deck-jennifer-lawrence-seth-rogen-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wasn\u2019t her real last name.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in foster care. My dad passed away when I was nine from Multiple sclerosis. And then my mom passed away when I was 13 just in her sleep. Below Deck and its spinoff series have never failed to bring the drama to Bravo fans everywhere since the franchise launched. The original series premiered in July 2013, documenting the daily lives of crew members on luxurious yachts during charter season. But they wouldn\u2019t even let me talk to him because he wasn\u2019t religious,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt was that extreme of a religion that they wouldn\u2019t even let me speak to my own biological brother.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a confessional, Cat offered more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-moms\/pictures\/celebrity-adoptions-2010911\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">details about her difficult home life<\/a>, sharing, \u201cSo I grew up in Orange County, California, with a foster family in a place called Yorba Linda. From 13 to 18, I was a part of this family\u2019s culture and life and dynamic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cat said she felt as if her foster family didn\u2019t actually care about her well-being.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything was for praise in the church and I felt like I was just a prop to them,\u201d she noted. \u201cIt was almost like they wanted to forget my past life. I felt so suppressed and I never stood up for myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t until Cat turned 18 that she was able to take control of her life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause I wanted to continue a relationship with my biological brother, they were like, \u2018No. We don\u2019t support that,&#8217;\u201d she continued. \u201cOnce I turned 18, I decided to choose my brother and choose my life. I decided to live for me and that\u2019s when I became the most independent. Now me and my brother are so close. He\u2019s like my best friend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/entertainment\/pictures\/a-guide-to-below-deck-and-its-many-spinoffs-photos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Below Deck<\/em> viewers have seen Cat struggle<\/a> to find her place on the interior team since she joined the franchise in January 2024. Earlier this season, Cat ended up at odds with fellow stews <strong>Barbie Pascual<\/strong> and <strong>Xandi Olivier<\/strong>. She offered more details during Monday\u2019s episode on how her childhood <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/entertainment\/news\/below-decks-captain-kerry-teases-several-firings-during-season-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">affected her work ethic.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust growing up with a lot of trauma, it makes you very insecure about yourself. The foster family I was with did a lot of things that made me feel like I was just not perfect,\u201d she recalled. \u201cYou had to be perfect. So how people view my work ethic is very important to me. I don\u2019t want to be viewed as weak. During season 7 of the Bravo show, chief stew Kate Chastain and bosun Ashton Pienaar had a scary confrontation when the latter was drunk after a night out. Ashton ended up punching [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Cat wasn\u2019t the only one to share shocking details about her past. In his own confessional, Fraser revealed the obstacles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/entertainment\/pictures\/below-deck-chief-stews-over-the-years-hannah-ferrier-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he faced on his way to becoming a chief steward.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy first job on a boat, I was a crew mess stew. Which means that I was a crew member to the crew. We are talking bottom of the barrel bottom.
