Billie Eilish<\/a> picked up her first major acting award at the 2024 People\u2019s Choice Awards on Sunday (18.02.24).<\/p>\n

Billie Eilish picked up her first acting award at the People’s Choice Awards<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old pop megastar was presented with the TV Performance of the Year prize for her role as Eva – a women’s empowerment cult leader that takes Dre (Dominique Fishback) under her wing – and she dedicated the award to the leading star.<\/p>\n

Collecting her gong from Jeremy Renner<\/a>, 53, at the star-studded bash at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, the ‘What Was I Made For?’ hitmaker said: \u201cI want to dedicate this to Dominique Fishback because that show is all about her. She put her whole cooch into that show and she really carried the hell out of it. She taught me everything I know. I owe that whole experience. She deserves this more than I do. She\u2019s incredible. She is beautiful. She is talented. She should be cast in everything forever.”<\/p>\n

The satirical comedy horror thriller miniseries – which was created by Janine Nabers and Donald Glover – tells the tale of Dre, a young woman who is infatuated with a pop star, whose fan base is known as “The Swarm”, and ends up in dark places.<\/p>\n

The Grammy and Oscar winner claiming her first actor award comes after her mother warned her against acting.<\/p>\n

\nThe ‘Bad Guy’ singer was hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 2021, when in her opening monologue, she detailed how her mother Maggie Baird, 64, had told her to give up her dreams of becoming an actress..<\/p>\n

\nShe said: “I spent a lot of years pretending to be somebody that I\u2019m not. Basically acting. And somebody wise once told me: \u2018Billie, you should never, ever act\u2026that person was my mom!”<\/p>\n

\nThe ‘Happier Than Ever’ hitmaker then went on to reveal an amusing anecdote which saw her overlooked by her mother for a role in a film in favour of her brother Finneas O’Connell, 26.<\/p>\n

\nSpeaking on the show, she said: “It is so great to be back here at SNL. I was a musical guest a couple of years ago but I never thought I would host, ever. In fact I used to say that I hated acting but the truth is when I was little, I loved it. My parents were both actors and so was my brother. It was my dream to be in a movie, and I remember when that dream died.<\/p>\n

\n“I was nine. My mom wrote a film inspired by her life – this is true – she cast my brother Finneas as her son. She played the mom. And in the movie she had no daughter! So yeah, I got the hint! But my mom is my best friend.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
