Kesha<\/strong><\/a> is counting down the days until she can release new music after leaving Dr. Luke<\/strong>\u2019s record label.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll say \u2026 to all my fans, all my animals, this has been a ride. I\u2019ll say that there is a day \u2014 although I won\u2019t say the day \u2014 but there is a day marked on my calendar when I am free to release music,\u201d Kesha, 36, told V <\/i>magazine<\/a> in an interview published on Saturday, February 17. \u201cSo just know that she is out here in the woods writing and singing till 4 in the morning, ferociously. I am being a feral wild woman out here. So just know that.\u201d<\/p>\n

News broke in December 2023 that Kesha had parted ways<\/a> with Dr. Luke\u2019s Kemosabe Records. Her most recent five albums, including 2023\u2019s Gag Order<\/i>, were released under Kemosabe.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll say this: I\u2019ve never felt happier<\/a>, more excited, more at peace and had such a purpose in my entire life,\u201d the pop star added to V. <\/i>\u201cAnd I feel like I have earned the right to be this happy for sure. So letting that be \u2026 I am loving every minute of what feels like a brand-new and very exciting chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAfter Kesha came forward with abuse allegations against Dr. Luke in 2014, the music producer fired back with a defamation lawsuit. In court documents obtained by Us Weekly in October 2014, the \u201cBlow\u201d songstress detailed an alleged 2005 incident in which she woke up naked in Dr. Luke\u2019s bed \u201csore and sick with no memory [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kesha\u2019s label departure came shortly after she and Dr. Luke, 50, agreed to settle their defamation lawsuit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The \u201cTik Tok\u201d singer claimed in 2014 that Dr. Luke had allegedly assaulted her in 2005 after she woke up in his bed \u201csore and sick with no memory of how she got there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kesha filed a lawsuit against the producer, claiming that he threatened to \u201cshut her career down\u201d if she mentioned the alleged incident.<\/p>\n

Dr. Luke denied the claims before filing a defamation suit against Kesha. His lawyer told Us Weekly <\/i>at the time that Kesha\u2019s allegations were part of a \u201ccampaign of publishing outrageous and untrue statements.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kesha dropped her lawsuit in August 2016, choosing instead to focus on suits that could end her recording contract.<\/p>\n

Kesha first tried to end her recording contract (which she signed at age 18 in 2005) with Kemosabe in 2015, asking a New York court to release her from the deal because she believed her career would suffer \u201cirreparable harm\u201d if she had to wait for the sexual assault lawsuit to be resolved before her next album could be released. Sony called her assault claims a \u201ctransparent and misguided attempt to renegotiate her contracts.\u201d Her request for an injunction to end her recording contract was denied in 2016, and she appealed the decision later that year. She lost that battle as well.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhile Hollywood may appear to be all glitz and glam on the surface, the industry has seen its fair share of\u00a0scandals\u00a0through the years. The\u00a0New York Times\u00a0and the\u00a0New Yorker first published investigative pieces in 2017 that accused disgruntled movie producer Harvey Weinstein of decades of sexual assault and harassment. Soon after, Weinstein stood trial and was [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In March 2017, Kesha\u2019s third attempt to get out of her recording contract was rejected by the court. \u201cWith respect to the Prescription Agreement, signed in November 2008, Gottwald\u2019s allegedly abusive behavior was foreseeable,\u201d the judge said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Dr. Luke proceeded with his defamation suit against Kesha. They were scheduled to go to trial in New York in July 2023 but reached a settlement instead.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile I appreciate Kesha again acknowledging that she cannot recount what happened that night in 2005, I am absolutely certain that nothing happened,\u201d Dr. Luke wrote via Instagram in June 2023. \u201cI never drugged or assaulted her and would never do that to anyone. For the sake of my family, I have vigorously fought to clear my name for nearly 10 years. It is time for me to put this difficult matter behind me and move on with my life. I wish Kesha well.\u201d<\/p>\n
