Jordin Sparks wants to return to the hit TV show<\/p>\n

The 39-year-old pop star recently announced that she plans to quit the show after season 22 of ‘American Idol’, and Jordin has already taken to social media to put her name forward as Katy’s potential successor. <\/p>\n

Jordin, 34 – who won ‘American Idol’ back in 2007 and has subsequently become one of the show’s most successful contestants – wrote on X: “Oh hiiii @AmericanIdol \u2014I hear a seat opened up at the judges table! I\u2019m putting my name in the hat! [waving emoji] (sic)”<\/p>\n

Jordin put her name forward after Katy announced her ‘American Idol’ exit during a recent TV appearance.<\/p>\n

The pop star – who joined the ‘American Idol’ judging panel in 2018 – said on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’: “I think this probably will be my last show, my last season for ‘Idol’.<\/p>\n

\n“I mean, I love ‘Idol’ so much. It\u2019s connected me with, like, the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat, you know what I\u2019m saying?”<\/p>\n

\nLionel Richie – Katy’s ‘American Idol’ co-star – has subsequently come out in support of her decision, acknowledging that it “makes sense”.<\/p>\n

\nThe veteran star admitted that Katy and himself are both at very different points in their lives and their careers.<\/p>\n

\nLionel, 74, said on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’: “We didn\u2019t know about it, but it makes sense.<\/p>\n

\n“In other words: The reason I love coming on the show with you and the reason I\u2019m doing ‘American Idol’ is because I have 400 years of stories and a life in the music business. I have things that I\u2019ve done.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
