Colton Underwood<\/strong><\/a> is getting candid about his struggles with fertility.<\/p>\n The 32-year-old former football player and The Bachelor<\/em> alum got married<\/a> to Jordan C. Brown<\/strong><\/a> in May 2023. <\/p>\n Colton<\/strong> recently shared that he and his husband have been trying to become parents, however, Colton<\/strong>\u2018s fertility issues have made their journey a challenge.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt is hard, and it\u2019s so intimate. I had so much shame around it. I felt inferior,\u201d Colton<\/strong> told Parents<\/em> magazine<\/a> in an interview published on Friday (February 16). \u201cMy ego took a hit, because I pride myself on being a healthy athlete. All of a sudden, you can\u2019t do the one thing that you really want to do and produce sperm.\u201d<\/p>\n Colton<\/strong> came out as gay<\/a> in 2021, just months before making his relationship with Jordan<\/strong> public<\/a>. He explained how his and Jordan<\/strong>\u2018s desire to raise children was something that connected them.<\/p>\n \u201cThat was especially important because, as I\u2019ve been on my coming out journey, [wanting to be a dad] was one of the factors that kept me in the closet,\u201d he said. \u201cI didn\u2019t really know it was possible to build a family as a gay man, until I came out, until I started having more conversations with Jordan and started educating myself.\u201d<\/p>\n Colton<\/strong> then revealed how his troubles with fertility started.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen we first went in [to the fertility clinic], we went in sort of skipping, holding hands, all happy,\u201d he said. \u201cDay one of starting our family\u2026 I got my sperm results back, and I had four sperm. Three of them were dead. One was barely moving in my sample. It was one of those things where [I was] considered technically infertile. I was like, \u2018This sucks. This is hard.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cThere\u2019s so many different things that people don\u2019t really understand that are contributing factors to low quality and motility in sperm. And I was basically doing everything I possibly could to kill my sperm, and I didn\u2019t even know.\u201d<\/p>\n Inspired by his and Jordan<\/strong>\u2018s journey toward parenthood, Colton<\/strong> will soon launch his podcast Daddyhood<\/em>, which will detail many different aspects LGBTQ+ couples must navigate before becoming parents.<\/p>\n Colton<\/strong> shared more about why he decided to start the podcast.<\/p>\n \u201cI think that often gets swept under the rug, the human element,\u201d he explained. \u201dI know a lot of women get told, \u2018Your chances of carrying to term are X percentage,\u2019 and then, you start feeling like a number, and you start getting discouraged.
