Stephanie Arcila<\/strong> is just like Us<\/em> and was totally surprised by Fire Country<\/em><\/a>\u2019s season 2 premiere proposal \u2014 even though it involved her character, Gabriela Perez.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was in shock, but then, at the same time, not,\u201d Arcila, 33, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> of Gabriela\u2019s engagement. \u201cBecause, I mean, if Bode wasn\u2019t in jail, would they be getting married<\/a>? Their relationship happens so quickly, too!\u201d<\/p>\n

Arcila confessed, \u201cI think Gabriela \u2014 a good Latina \u2014 is a romantic. [She] wants love and is very passionate in expressing it in how she is with her friends, with her family, with her partner.\u201d<\/p>\n

For years, there have been couples who have garnered huge fan bases, but still don\u2019t end up together. During the Fire Country<\/em> season 1 finale, which aired in May 2023, Bode (Max Thieriot<\/strong><\/a>) falsely confessed to bringing drugs into Three Rock convict camp, so his pal Freddy (W. Tr\u00e9 Davis<\/strong>) would get a deal and be set free. At the time, Bode told Gabriela not to wait for him.<\/p>\n

When the show picks up<\/a> for season 2, viewers learn that Gabriela and Bode broke up<\/a> after he headed back to prison. During the season premiere on Friday, February 16, Bode is six months into his prison stay and Gabriela has found love with someone else: paramedic firefighter, Diego (Rafael De La Fuente<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFire Country centers around convict Bode Donovan (Max Thieriot) and the members of the Cal Fire team, including their red-hot romances. During season 1, Bode returns to his hometown and joins Cal Fire in exchange for a reduced prison sentence. While there, he steps into a love triangle between his former BFF and firefighter Jake [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After celebrating their four-month anniversary in the episode, Diego proposes to Gabriela, and she accepts. \u201cEve, I\u2019m engaged! I proposed and he did too. It was spontaneous and so us,\u201d Gabriela says in the closing scene.<\/p>\n

When Gabriela turns her head, she realizes that Bode is back at Three Rock. \u201cI\u2019m so happy for you,\u201d Bode says before the episode ends. Earlier in the premiere, Bode\u2019s former enemy, Sleeper (Grant Harvey<\/strong>), agrees to confess to being the real drug smuggler, which allows Bode the opportunity to get out of jail and once again work at Three Rock to knock time off his sentence.<\/p>\n

I like to be surprised,\u201d Arcila told Us<\/em> in February of the bombshell engagement. \u201cWhen I read it, I called some of my other castmates<\/a> and I\u2019m like, \u2018Did you see that? I\u2019m engaged! We\u2019re engaged!\u2019 What is this?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress explained that as season 2 unfolds, viewers will see how Gabriela processes the proposal and Bode\u2019s return to Edgewater. \u201cWe\u2019re going to see and find out how that develops and how she feels even if she doesn\u2019t say how she feels,\u201d Arcila teased.<\/p>\n

Arcila told Us<\/em> that she hasn\u2019t \u201cfound out yet\u201d if there will be a love triangle<\/a> involving Gabriela, Bode and Diego. \u201cI think what we will see is that love that she still has for Bode,\u201d she revealed. \u201cAnd [Gabriela] trying to fight and figure out what is best for her. You\u2019ll definitely feel it and you\u2019ll definitely see it, but at the end of the day, they both want each other to genuinely be happy and they both want the best for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arcila noted that there is \u201csuch a deep love\u201d and a \u201cbeautiful connection\u201d between Gabriela and Bode<\/a>, so Gabriela will \u201calways love him\u201d on some level.<\/p>\n
