My Big Fat Fabulous Life<\/em> star Whitney Way Thore<\/strong> got candid about her recent weight loss.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hate addressing this, but no, I have not had medical intervention to lose weight,\u201d Thore, 39, explained in a Sunday, February 11, Instagram video while showing off her outfit ahead of her dad\u2019s birthday celebration. \u201cIn 2015 (season 1), I weighed 385 pounds. In 2018, I lost 50 pounds. When my mom got sick and eventually died, I lost 50 more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thore noted that she now weighs \u201c285 pounds\u201d and has stayed at the same weight for nearly one year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the second time in my life I\u2019ve lost 100 pounds,\u201d she shared with her followers. \u201cI\u2019m still very fat. Thank you for the compliments, but I really don\u2019t like obsessing over my body and I don\u2019t like it when others do it either. \ud83d\udc9c.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thore began starring on her own reality show, My Big Fat Fabulous<\/em>, in 2015 and it has continued for 11 seasons. The TLC series follows Thore, a former dancer, as she copes with gaining 200 pounds due to polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).<\/p>\n

Since gaining a large following on social media, Thore has continued to be vocal about body image.<\/p>\n

In August 2020, Thore took to Instagram<\/a> to reveal that she isn\u2019t \u201cuncomfortable\u201d with calling herself \u201cfat,\u201d<\/a> despite fans telling her to not use \u201csuch a mean word\u201d to describe herself.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere\u2019s just a little reminder that \u2026 it\u2019s actually insulting to insist that a fat person who has identified as fat actually isn\u2019t fat,\u201d she wrote at the time. \u201cIf you try to convince me otherwise, you\u2019re simply reinforcing the notion that being fat is bad and not making any damn sense because I am obviously fat. \ud83d\ude02.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Thore has received many comments reminding her she\u2019s \u201cbeautiful! \/funny! \/smart! successful,\u201d she noted that those remarks aren\u2019t as empowering as someone may think.<\/p>\n
