Dwayne Johnson<\/strong><\/a> is hitting back at a reporter.<\/p>\n The 51-year-old wrestler-turned-actor was recently booed by the crowd while making an appearance at a WWE press conference.<\/p>\n Reporter Nick Sortor<\/strong> then claimed on Twitter<\/a> that Dwayne<\/strong> was booed because he didn\u2019t deliver on his promise to provide financial relief to Maui following last year\u2019s devastating wildfires.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u201cDwayne Johnson promised TENS OF MILLIONS to the victims of the Maui fires, but many victims still have not seen a dime,\u201d Sortor<\/strong> wrote. <\/p>\n \u201cIt looks like the audience is fully AMERICA FIRST and is demanding The Rock and Oprah follow through with their commitment to take care of the people of Lahaina,\u201d he continued. \u201cThe crowd started booing and chanting \u2018MAUI! MAUI! MAUI!\u201d MAKE IT HAPPEN!\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n If you were unaware, Dwayne<\/strong> teamed up with Oprah Winfrey<\/strong><\/a> to launch the People\u2019s Fund of Maui back at the end of August 2023, and donated $10 million together for the cause.<\/p>\n Two days after Sortor<\/strong>\u2018s claims, Dwayne<\/strong> took to his own Twitter<\/a> account to respond.<\/p>\n \u201cI typically refrain from responding to toxic, false clickbait garbage like this because I hate dignifying bullshit with a response, but when you use Hawaii\u2019s tragic events to draw attention to yourself I won\u2019t stay quiet,\u201d Dwayne began.<\/p>\n \u201cThis moment you\u2019re referring to is from our @WWE press conference this past Thursday where I turned \u2018heel\u2019- wrestling parlance for bad guy,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019m playing it up with our crowd as they boo. It\u2019s what we do in our WWE universe, and we all love every second of it.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cFor the record: Our People\u2019s Fund of Maui has already DELIVERED over $50 MILLION DOLLARS to over 8,000 survivors who were affected by the fires, and I\u2019m grateful to the bone that we\u2019ve been the primary funders,\u201d Dwayne<\/strong> explained. <\/p>\n \u201cHawaii is where I grew up, where I raise my children throughout the year and where my ancestors are buried,\u201d he continued. \u201cThese are my Polynesian people and these are OUR American people. You can\u2019t imagine how much they are still struggling daily to put their lives back together and take care of each other. Our Poly American people are as resilient as people come, and they will raise and get back on their feet.\u201d<\/p>\n Dwayne<\/strong> then addressed the reported directly, writing, \u201cNick, instead of posting bulls\u2013t like this that you know is false \u2013 I encourage you to post something positive for Hawaii, for our Polynesian American people. Or actually take positive action and come to Hawaii to help out in an uplifting way. I\u2019m in Hawaii now, and I guarantee you, you\u2019ll get great content that can actually make a difference in people\u2019s lives.
