San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy<\/strong> feels like he let his coach and teammates down after their 2024 Super Bowl LVIII<\/a> loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt starts with [my] coach, that\u2019s who I hurt for and for all the other guys, our whole team,\u201d Purdy, 24, said during a post-game press conference on Sunday, February 11. \u201cWhat we\u2019ve been through the last year hasn\u2019t been easy. For it to go like that where it\u2019s close at the end and it\u2019s tough, I\u2019m still trying to wrap my mind around it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the game, Purdy could be seen sullenly exiting onto the sidelines as one 49ers coach pulled him into a hug after heartbreaking loss<\/a>. The 49ers maintained a lead throughout most of the game, but the Chiefs were victorious scoring a last-minute touchdown by Mecole Hardman Jr<\/strong>. in the final overtime minutes. The Chiefs won 25-22.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the Super Bowl, Purdy shared that he was embracing his nickname<\/a> \u201cMr. Irrelevant\u201d \u2014 a moniker given to the last pick in the NFL draft \u2014 as he prepared for the big game.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo I think it\u2019s time to pick a new nickname? I\u2019m OK with \u2018Mr. Irrelevant.\u2019 It\u2019s all good,\u201d Purdy said while talking to reporters on Monday, February 5, per the NFL\u2019s official X<\/a> account.<\/p>\n

Purdy got his shot with the 49ers last year when quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo<\/strong> and Trey Lance<\/strong> suffered injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, the bottom line is, life isn\u2019t about you. That\u2019s what I believe,\u201d he shared on Monday. \u201cBeing a part of something bigger than yourself, you know, you get wrapped up in getting all the glory and the fame and the status, and I feel like that\u2019s a shallow life and that can fade away pretty quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to say that he is \u201cvery honored and thankful\u201d for getting to play in the Super Bowl and wants to win a championship for \u201cthis organization.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut more than anything, I\u2019m trying to just serve my guys on this team well and love on \u2018em well and the whole organization and everyone in my life. That\u2019s how I view it,\u201d Purdy added.<\/p>\n

While Purdy accomplished a milestone in his career, he also reached another milestone with his relationship with fianc\u00e9e Jenna Brandt<\/strong>. The duo \u2013 who met while attending Iowa State University where Purdy played football and Brandt was a setter on the volleyball team \u2014 announced their engagement in July 2023 after one year of dating.<\/p>\n

\u201cWE GET TO DO LIFE TOGETHER\u2026FOREVER!\u201d Brandt wrote via Instagram alongside several photos of their beachside engagement. \u201cBrock Purdy \u2013 I love everything about you & your heart for Jesus more than any words can say.\u201d<\/p>\n
