Brace yourself for the storm of all storms because the official Twisters<\/em> trailer will make you feel like you are part of the action \u2014\u00a0and stuck in the intense weather phenomena.<\/p>\n

Universal Pictures dropped the first look at the 2024 action film during Super Bowl LVIII<\/a> on Sunday, February 11. The video includes a glimpse of Glen Powell<\/strong><\/a>, Daisy Edgar-Jones<\/strong><\/a> and more of the movie\u2019s biggest stars.<\/p>\n

Powell plays Tyler Owens, a reckless social media star who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures. He crosses paths with Kate Cooper (Edgar-Jones), a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter. They\u2019ll have to work together if they want to survive.<\/p>\n

Twisters<\/em> is the follow-up film<\/a> to 1996\u2019s Twister<\/em>. The original movie followed storm chasers and couple Bill (the late Bill Paxton<\/strong>) and Jo Harding (Helen Hunt<\/strong>) as they put themselves into the crosshairs of violent tornadoes thanks to their inventive weather alert system.<\/p>\n

The big game is the most-watched night of television in the U.S. (115 million people tuned in last year), so advertisers pay the big bucks for A-list talent. Companies also drop a pretty penny to air an ad with [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The film was nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Sound and Best Visual Effects. It grossed more than $494 million worldwide.<\/p>\n

News of a sequel began to surface in October 2022<\/a>. Two months later, Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment announced that Twisters<\/em>, directed by Lee Isaac Chung<\/strong>, will open in theaters on Friday, July 19, 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But the turn of the calendar means it\u2019s time to get excited about a fresh slate of movies. Edgar-Jones, 25, was the first actress brought on board for the project in March 2023. Powell, 35, signed on the following month<\/a>, as did Anthony Ramos<\/strong>. In May 2023, Deadline<\/em><\/a> confirmed the addition of actors Maura Tierney<\/strong>, Harry Hadden-Paton<\/strong>, Sasha Lane<\/strong>, Kiernan Shipka<\/strong>, Nik Dodani<\/strong>, David Corenswet<\/strong>, Tunde Adebimpe<\/strong> and Katy O\u2019Brian<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s plot and character identities remained under wraps at the time, but Powell teased what\u2019s to come in December 2023. \u201cIt\u2019s definitely not a reboot. We\u2019re not trying to recreate the story from the first one,\u201d he told Vogue<\/em><\/a>, insisting, \u201cIt\u2019s a completely original story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grease is one of the most beloved films of all time, thanks largely to the undeniable chemistry between its leading stars, John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, and a catchy soundtrack featuring songs like \u201cSummer Nights\u201d and \u201cHopelessly [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Powell revealed, \u201cThere are no characters from the original movie back, so it\u2019s not really a continuation. It\u2019s just its own standalone story in the modern-day.\u201d He explained that filming wrapped \u201ca couple of nights ago\u201d and since Twister<\/em> was a megahit, he\u2019s hoping Twisters<\/em> will be just as noteworthy.<\/p>\n
