King Charles III<\/strong> <\/a>spoke out for the first time since his cancer diagnosis<\/a> to thank fans for sending thoughtful words of encouragement to him in the wake of his health battle.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days,\u201d Charles, 75, said in a personal statement released by Buckingham Palace on Saturday, February 10. \u201cAs all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charles added that if one good thing has come from this, it\u2019s that he\u2019s glad opening up about his cancer diagnosis has been able to help educate people all over the world about the disease, and he\u2019s more appreciative than ever of everything healthcare workers do.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organizations which support cancer patients and their families across the U.K. and wider world,\u201d His Majesty explained. \u201cMy lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSeveral British royals have been diagnosed with various forms of cancer since the start of their family\u2019s reign. Buckingham Palace announced in February 2024 that King Charles III received a cancer diagnosis one week after he was admitted to The London Clinic to undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate. \u201cDuring The King\u2019s recent hospital procedure [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While Prince Harry<\/strong> has not publicly addressed the matter, he did arrive in London<\/a> the day after the news broke, with many believing it was so he could check on his father firsthand.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the king\u2019s eldest son, Prince William<\/strong>, spoke out<\/a> on behalf of his family on Wednesday, February 7, saying, \u201cWe really appreciate everyone\u2019s kindness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since sharing the news of his diagnoses on Monday, February 5, the palace has said that Charles has started \u201ca schedule of regular treatments\u201d and was \u201cadvised to postpone public-facing duties\u201d for the time being so he can focus on his health and recovery.<\/p>\n
