<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Moana and Maui are sailing back into theaters later this year \u2014 and are expected to make a big splash.<\/p>\n<p>Disney announced on Wednesday, February 7, that the lovable duo, along with a new crew of unlikely seafarers, will be returning to the big screen for another grand adventure in <em>Moana 2<\/em>, which is set to hit theaters on Monday, November 27.<\/p>\n<p>Disney\u2019s CEO, <strong>Bob Iger<\/strong>, revealed that the sequel\u2019s script was actually originally intended for TV, but that all changed after everyone saw it. \u201cWe were impressed by what we saw and knew it deserved a theatrical release,\u201d Iger revealed on CNBC on Wednesday, per <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/film\/news\/moana-2-disney-2024-release-date-1235901329\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Variety<\/em><\/a>. \u201cMoana remains an incredibly popular franchise, and we can\u2019t wait to give you more of Moana and Maui when <em>Moana 2<\/em> comes to theaters this November.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This time around, Moana (<strong>Auli\u2019i Cravalho<\/strong>) will head out on an epic voyage to the far seas of Oceania with her friends after she receives an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors. And despite all those stop-and-start productions and delayed releases due to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Alongside the synopsis of the film, Disney released another surprise: a first-look teaser trailer. In it, viewers get a glimpse of an island, where Moana is standing on a beautiful tropical beach. Just as the sun is setting, she blows on a conch shell as the camera quickly pans out, showing her beloved boat. Afterward, Maui\u2019s (<strong>Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson<\/strong>) voice can be heard in the background as he lets out his signature call, \u201cCheerhoo!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The sequel will be directed by <strong>Dave Derrick Jr.<\/strong> and include some of the same songwriters from the 2016 film. However, while <strong>Lin-Manuel Miranda<\/strong> was behind some of the biggest tracks from the original movie, including, \u201cHow Far I\u2019ll Go\u201d and \u201cYou\u2019re Welcome,\u201d he isn\u2019t expected to return for part two.
