Miley Cyrus\u2019 mum was stricken by a month-long \u2018complete psychological breakdown\u2019 before she divorced the singer\u2019s famous dad Billy Ray Cyrus<\/p>\n
Tish Cyrus, 56, made the tough decision to leave rocker Billy, 62, in 2020 \u2013 the same year her mum died \u2013 and she has now opened up about she left despite her two biggest fears being along and without a mother.<\/p>\n
She told the latest episode of the \u2018Call Her Daddy\u2019 podcast: \u201cIt was so crazy because, honestly, my two biggest fears in life were always being alone and my mom passing away.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was like, \u2018I just don\u2019t know if I\u2019ll survive when my mom dies.\u2019 Like, honestly.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I had, like, one month of a, honestly, complete psychological breakdown. \u201cIt was the worst thing \u2013 like, honestly. It was not good.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nTish added she called celebrity therapist Daniel Amen, 69, and begged him to \u201cplease put me in a mental hospital\u201d \u2013 to which she said he responded\u201d \u201c\u2018I do not think that\u2019s the best thing for either of us.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe went on about her trauma: \u201cI could not eat. I could not sleep. I could not stop crying. I literally weighed, like, 130 (lbs.)<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI don\u2019t have my mom, and then I don\u2019t have my husband that\u2019s been my husband for 30 years. Like\u2026 I\u2019m scared.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nTish added Billy went to Tennessee during the Covid pandemic while she stayed in California where \u2018Wrecking Ball\u2019 singer Miley, 31, lives.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201c(Our marriage) had not been in a good place for a long time, and I think I did stay so long out of fear \u2013 literal fear \u2013 of being alone.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBut she said her singledom was \u201chugely transformative\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nTish, who married Billy in 1993, had previously gone through a separation from the performer in 2010 and then 2013, but Tish said she knew their 2020 split would be for good.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201c(I was) looking at myself and going, \u2018What in the heck are you doing?\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd so I literally just had made that firm decision and was like, \u2018I\u2019m moving on with my life.\u2019 And, you know what, girl? It worked out for the best.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nTish waited two years before filing for divorce in April 2022, and both she and Billy Ray quickly moved on.<\/p>\n
\nThe \u2018Achy Breaky Heart\u2019 singer got engaged to fellow musician Joanna \u2018Firerose\u2019 Hodges that August and the couple married in October 2023.<\/p>\n
\nTish got engaged to her \u2018Prison Break\u2019 actor partner Dominic Purcell, 53, last April before they got hitched in August.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
