Austin Butler<\/strong><\/a> and Vanessa Hudgens<\/strong><\/a> may have a little less conversation following their 2020 breakup, but the exes continue to pay tribute to their past together.<\/p>\n In September 2022 \u2014 two years after Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> confirmed the pair had split \u2014 Hudgens called her nine-year-long relationship with Butler \u201clife-changing.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe public only sees so much,\u201d Hudgens told Nylon<\/em><\/a> at the time, referring to her romances with Butler and Zac Efron<\/strong>. (Hudgens and Efron dated<\/a> from 2006 to 2010.) \u201cI\u2019ve also been through two very long life-changing relationships, and no one really knows what happened except for me. When I write my memoir, it\u2019ll be amazing.\u201d (Hudgens moved on with baseball player Cole Tucker<\/strong>, whom she married<\/a> in December 2023.)<\/p>\n Butler, who has been dating<\/a> Kaia Gerber<\/strong> since December 2021, revealed in a January 2023 interview for The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> that Hudgens inspired him to take on his Oscar-nominated role as Elvis Presley, though he only referred to her as his \u201cfriend.\u201d<\/p>\n He later praised Hudgens for her help in getting him cast in 2022\u2019s Elvis while clarifying her as the unnamed \u201cfriend\u201d he mentioned.<\/p>\n
