It\u2019s becoming very pricey to attend an NFL game \u2014 even if you are a family member of a player.<\/p>\n
The prices have continually increased through the years, with an average regular season ticket costing upwards of $375 in 2023.<\/p>\n
Football\u2019s biggest day of 2024 is no exception, with Super Bowl LVIII<\/a> being the most expensive game on record. To watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas, tickets cost about $8,000.<\/p>\n The sticker shock has kept some NFL athletes and their families from buying tickets, including 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey<\/strong>\u2019s mom, Lisa McCaffrey<\/strong>, who confessed she couldn\u2019t afford it.<\/p>\n \u201cWe looked into a suite and none of us can afford it,\u201d Lisa said on the \u201cYour Mom\u201d podcast in January 2024. \u201cNot even Christian, moneybags over there nor moneybags Olivia [Culpo]<\/strong>. So, we are not in a suite. I\u2019ll tell you that right now.\u201d<\/p>\n Shortly after Lisa\u2019s admission, Culpo revealed she bought a Super Bowl suite<\/a> for her fianc\u00e9e\u2019s mom\u2019s birthday.<\/p>\n Scroll down for what NFL athletes and their families have said about game day ticket prices:<\/p>\n Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce<\/strong> and Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce<\/strong>\u2019s mom, Donna Kelce<\/strong>, knows all too well the struggles of attending the Super Bowl after her sons famously faced off against each other in 2023.<\/p>\n \u201cIf your child has a heartbeat, you have to pay for them,\u201d Donna told Today<\/em><\/a> in February 2024. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter if they\u2019re just were born. If you have a child, even if you\u2019re holding them the whole time, you have to pay the full price.\u201d<\/p>\n Donna noted that \u201cit\u2019s a little pricey\u201d for parents to bring their children to the game, but it\u2019s a special family moment that\u2019s hard to miss.<\/p>\n \u201cYou want them to know that you were there when your father was in the Super Bowl, so that you can tell them that later on in life,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n 49ers linebacker Fred Warner<\/strong>\u2019s wife, Sydney Warner<\/strong>, shared in a February 2023 TikTok<\/a> that all tickets for home and away games aren\u2019t free. She noted that her husband\u2019s team is offered seats at a discounted rate.<\/p>\n Jason and his wife, Kylie Kelce<\/strong>, candidly discussed their decision to buy their children tickets to watch their dad play in Super Bowl LVII during their Kelce<\/em> documentary.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are going to pay almost $4,000 for a f\u2013king kid who\u2019s not going to sit in a seat,\u201d Kylie said in the Prime Video film, which dropped in September 2023. \u201cTo watch her dad play in a game. That\u2019s bananas.\u201d<\/p>\n When their daughter Elliotte appeared on the screen with her baby doll, Jason asked her whether she wanted to go to the Super Bowl. Elliotte shook her head before adding, \u201cMy baby [doll] wants to go to the Super Bowl, too.\u201d (Jason and Kylie also share daughters Wyatt and Bennett.)<\/p>\n The former Denver Broncos punter welcomed his third child just days before the team was set to play in the Super Bowl in 2016. While each player was allotted 15 tickets for the game, each one was worth $1,800 \u2014 even for babies.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s no age limit to tickets,\u201d Britton Colquitt<\/strong> told the Denver Post<\/em> at the time. \u201cIt\u2019s $1,800 for our week-old daughter we just had. It\u2019s kind of crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n He explained that while his daughter wouldn\u2019t remember the day, he made the decision to include her.<\/p>\n \u201cIf we win and my wife and two kids are there, but she\u2019s not, how do I explain that to her?\u201d Colquitt explained to CBS Sports<\/a>. \u201cIn the pictures, if we win, I\u2019d like her to be in it.\u201d<\/p>\n Before Culpo surprised Lisa with a Super Bowl LVIII suite to watch Christian, the NFL star\u2019s mom opened up about her struggles to secure a ticket and shared that her family was able to \u201cnegotiate\u201d a group of tickets in a specific section of the stands.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t exactly understand what it is, but anyway we are in [that area]. Part of the problem is I wanted eight tickets together because I felt strongly about everybody being together,\u201d Lisa said, adding that her husband, Ed McCaffrey<\/strong>, and other sons would be joining her and Culpo. \u201c[Tickets are] outrageously expensive.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201c[Christian\u2019s] best friends, they can\u2019t afford it, and Christian used all his [allotted] tickets to get these other seats for us.
