In a joyous moment backstage at the <\/span>2024 GRAMMY Awards<\/a>, <\/span>Coco Jones<\/a>\u00a0couldn’t contain her emotions after clinching a prestigious award.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Speaking with ET’s Kevin Frazier, the singer-actress — who won best R&B performance for her hit song, “ICU” — tried to put into words the overwhelming feelings that accompanied her victory.<\/span><\/p>\n “Yeah, it’s hard to describe. I’m literally trying to keep it together, you know, almost done, but it’s just hard to describe. It’s so surreal,” Coco shared about the surreal experience of winning a GRAMMY.<\/span><\/p>\n Adding to the heartfelt moment, Javonda Jones, Coco’s mother, joined the interview, expressing her immense pride in her daughter’s achievement. “It’s just so amazing. My daughter won a GRAMMY tonight. That’s my girl. So amazing,” Javonda exclaimed.<\/span><\/p>\n Reflecting on the journey that led to this remarkable achievement, Javonda opened up about the deep desire every parent holds for their child’s success. “God, you just want them to win. You would give anything so that they could be happy. They’re your babies, they’re your kids, you just want them to win, and she was always so happy doing this that I just knew we couldn’t stop. We couldn’t stop, and today my daughter won a GRAMMY,” she gushed.<\/span><\/p>\n When asked the inevitable question of who will be taking possession of the trophy, Javonda confidently declared, “Oh, I’m getting it.” Coco chimed in, affirming her mother’s claim, “You know the answer, there you go, there you go.”<\/span><\/p>\n As the interview continued, Coco shared her plans for celebrating the monumental win. “We’re gonna have a couple of things, a dinner and probably a party. I’m gonna celebrate with my Def Jam HIGH STANDARDz label team and who knows from there,” she revealed.<\/span><\/p>\n When <\/span>ET’s Cassie DiLaura spoke with<\/a> the first-time GRAMMY nominee on the red carpet of Spotify’s 2024 Best New Artist Party on Thursday, Jones admitted that she still hadn’t processed her five nominations.<\/span><\/p>\n “I think it will hit me once they call my name,” the <\/span>Bel-Air<\/span><\/i> star confessed. “I’m trying to keep it positive, but you know my mom is here, and I’m really happy for her. I’m living through her eyes, and she just, she was the team before the team, so it’s really wonderful.”<\/span><\/p>\n She added, “Being nominated for a GRAMMY is such a level that I could never reach on my own, so to have that attached to my name, it opens so many doors. And I think it just puts a level of respect on what I do.”<\/span><\/p>\n It’s been a rollercoaster for the singer since she released her EP, <\/span>What I Didn\u2019t Tell You<\/span><\/i>, in 2022. Jones has gone on to earn the <\/span>Best New Artist<\/a> title at the 2023 <\/span>BET Awards<\/a> as well as win Best R&B Performance and get nominated for Best Traditional R&B Performance, Best R&B Song and Best R&B Album at the GRAMMYs.<\/span><\/p>\n She was also honored in the elite and elusive Best New Artist category, and was nominated alongside newcomers like <\/span>Ice Spice<\/a>, Noah Kahan, <\/span>Victoria Monet<\/a> and <\/span>Jelly Roll<\/a>.\u00a0Mon\u00e9t ultimately took home the award.<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span><\/i>2024 GRAMMY Awards<\/i><\/a> aired on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 5 p.m. PT\/8 p.m. ET and was broadcasted and streamed live on CBS and <\/span><\/i>Paramount+<\/i><\/a> from <\/span><\/i>Crypto.com<\/i><\/a> Arena in Los Angeles.
