Andy Cohen<\/strong><\/a> had some kind words to say about Kandi Burruss<\/strong> <\/a>following the news of her departure from The Real Housewives of Atlanta<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Cohen, 55, gushed over Burruss\u2019 \u201cunbelievable run\u201d on the Bravo hit during his SiriusXM Andy Cohen Live<\/a> radio show on Monday, February 5. \u201cIncredible run,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd you think about how much she not only went through on the show, but brought to the show. She wanted to be the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued to reflect on his long history with Burruss, 47. \u201cShe has been one of my favorite people to work with in my whole time. First, as an exec at Bravo, and then as an E.P. of The Housewives<\/em> and hosting Watch What Happens Live<\/em>,\u201d Cohen said. \u201cI love how competitive she is. I love how thoughtful and smart she is. She is so strategic.\u201d<\/p>\n

The twosome\u2019s bond even extended off camera. \u201cShe would call me anytime she had a thought about either the way the show was being marketed or not marketed or about the way that it was being scheduled,\u201d he recalled. \u201cOr she had a lot of really smart opinions and thoughts and she always wanted to know more. \u2018What\u2019s your strategy here? What are you thinking?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOnce a peach, always a peach!\u00a0The Real Housewives of Atlanta has said goodbye to a few cast members since its Bravo debut in 2008 \u2014 but there\u2019s always a chance they could return. For instance, original RHOA star NeNe Leakes left the show in season 7 before rejoining the cast in 2018. \u201cIt\u2019s been a [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cohen and Burruss would have \u201cgreat dialogue,\u201d he explained. \u201cAnd then, sometimes at the end of the conversation, she would say, \u2018You know what? I\u2019m glad I called. I totally get it now.\u2019 Sometimes she would say, \u2018Y\u2019all are wrong,\u2019 and you know, and a lot of times she was right.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Watch What Happens Now Live<\/em> host shared that he and Burruss, along with her husband, Todd Tucker,<\/strong> recently spoke about her departure over the phone.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a long talk the other day, she and I and Todd on the phone,\u201d Cohen said. \u201cI appreciate her saying, \u2018You know what? I think this is just time.\u2019 She knows the show is at a crossroads right now and I don\u2019t even want to talk about where we\u2019re going with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Burruss broke the news<\/a> of her exit to Variety<\/em><\/a> while on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards<\/a>\u00a0on Sunday, February 4. \u201cI\u2019m not really keeping up right now. I\u2019m not keeping up. I already said it, so I\u2019ll tell you. I decided I\u2019m not coming back this year,\u201d she told the outlet.<\/p>\n

Burruss said she is focused on other projects, adding, \u201cIt\u2019s been 14 seasons, and they allowed us to sit around for a little too long, but during that time I had started working on a lot of other things, and I got some nice big projects coming soon, so I\u2019m super excited about those things.\u201d<\/p>\n

After reflecting on her time as a Housewife, Burruss decided she wanted to take a step back.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s not just that. It\u2019s just like, you know, after you really have time to think, and a friend of mine was like, \u2018Why do you keep doing it?\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Well, I think because I\u2019ve just been doing it so long, [it] feels weird to think not to do it?\u2019\u201d she continued. \u201cSo I was just like, \u2018You know what? I\u2019m going to take a break, I\u2019m going to take a moment \u2026 I\u2019m not coming back this year.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Burruss joined RHOA<\/em> for its second season in 2009 and has been a regular Housewife ever since. She also starred in several spinoff shows, such as The Kandi Factory, Kandi\u2019s Wedding, Kandi\u2019s Ski Trip, Xscape: Still Kickin\u2019 It and Kandi & the Gang<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Before confirming her exit, Burruss shared her thoughts on a potential cast shakeup for RHOA<\/em><\/a>. Rumors swirled after season 15 last year that the show could follow The Real Housewives of New York City<\/em><\/a> and reboot the group entirely.<\/p>\n
