Victoria Mon\u00e9t<\/a> is now a GRAMMY winner!<\/span><\/p>\n The singer’s 2023 release, <\/span>JAGUAR II, <\/span><\/em>won\u00a0Best R&B Album andBest Engineered Album, Non-Classical, during the pre-show ceremony at the\u00a0<\/span>2024 GRAMMY Awards<\/a>\u00a0on Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n Monet is of one the <\/span>most-nominated artists<\/a> at the awards show, earning seven nods when <\/span>the nominations were announced<\/a>\u00a0in November.<\/span><\/p>\n And while one of those noms was for the prestigious <\/span>Best New Artist<\/a> award, don’t let that make you think that\u00a0Mon\u00e9t is new to the music business.<\/span><\/p>\n After discovering a passion for poetry as a child, the performer got her start in the music industry as a songwriter and would go on to major success in that arena, working with artists like\u00a0<\/span>Ariana Grande<\/a>,\u00a0Nas,\u00a0Blackpink,\u00a0Fifth Harmony,\u00a0T.I.,\u00a0GOOD Music,\u00a0Lupe Fiasco,\u00a0Chrisette Michele, and Coco Jones.<\/span><\/p>\n She formed a friendship with Grande, who featured on her 2016 release, “Better Days,” in response to the shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile and the Black Lives Matter movement. Grande even brought Mon\u00e9t onstage during her 2017 <\/span>One Love Manchester concert<\/a>, and the pair performed the track together.<\/span><\/p>\n The singer joined Grande as an opener on her Dangerous Woman Tour, and the pair would later team up again on a 2019 single, “Monopoly.”<\/span><\/p>\n After releasing four EPs between 2014-18, Mon\u00e9t began work on what would become her debut album. She released the first part, an EP titled <\/span>Jaguar<\/span><\/em>, in August 2020, which featured singles “A** Like That” and “Experience,” featuring DJ Khaled and Khalid.<\/span><\/p>\n But her real breakthrough as a performer came this year, with the release of her first official studio album, <\/span>Jaguar II<\/span><\/em>, in August. The album was supported by three singles,\u00a0“Smoke” with Lucky Daye, “Party Girls” with\u00a0Buju Banton, and “On My Mama.”<\/span><\/p>\n “On My Mama,” which samples the 2009 rap hit\u00a0“I Look Good” by Chalie Boy, became\u00a0Mon\u00e9t’s most successful solo track to date, hitting No. 58 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 18 on the\u00a0US\u00a0Hot R&B\/Hip-Hop Songs.<\/span><\/p>\n
