In September, Pamela Anderson<\/strong><\/a> went viral \u2014 and not for anything scandalous. The 56-year-old dared to attend Paris Fashion Week events without a stitch of makeup<\/a> on her famous face. Fellow celebs cheered her on, with A-listers Scarlett Johansson<\/strong><\/a> praising the former Playboy centerfold for sending a \u201cpowerful message\u201d to women and Jamie Lee Curtis<\/strong> saying she was \u201cfloored by this act of courage and rebellion.\u201d Pam\u2019s message was simple. \u201cI was dressing in these beautiful clothes, and I thought, \u2018I don\u2019t want to compete with the clothes,\u2019\u201d she said at the time. \u201cI am just being me.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s a whole new vibe for Pam, previously known for her bombshell looks and infamous sex tape with ex-husband Tommy Lee<\/strong>. She\u2019s ready to shed that identity like she\u2019s shed her fake eyelashes. Last January, Pam offered fans an intimate look into her life with her Netflix documentary, Pamela, A Love Story<\/em><\/a>, and her memoir, Love, Pamela<\/em>.<\/p>\n And now, she\u2019s branching out again with her new vegan beauty line, Sonsie, introducing it on Instagram on January 22. Sexualized from a young age \u2014 a babysitter molested her as a child\u2014Pam leaned in to what she felt others expected of her. In her book, she recounts being abused by multiple boyfriends as a teen and admitted that she posed for Playboy in an effort to reclaim her sexuality. Yet she continued to be objectified. The photos, she wrote, \u201cgave some people the impetus, sadly, to treat me without respect.\u201d (She claimed actor Tim Allen<\/strong> flashed her on the set of Home Improvement<\/em>, where she played the ditzy Tool Time girl, an allegation he has denied.)<\/p>\n Her love life often made headlines, never more than when a personal tape of her and Tommy<\/a> was stolen from their home and sold as porn. While Tommy was deemed a sex god, Pamela became the butt of jokes. She has said she blocked out that painful period, but the 2022 release of Hulu\u2019s dramatization of the era, Pam & Tommy<\/em>, reopened the wound.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was already hurtful enough the first time,\u201d she complained. \u201cIt\u2019s like one of those things where you\u2019re going, \u2018Really? People are still capitalizing off that thing?\u2019\u201d While the tape generated more than $100 million in profits, Pam and Tommy had to sue for an undisclosed portion. They split in 1998 after he assaulted her while she was holding their infant son Dylan<\/strong><\/a>, now 26 (she and the M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce drummer also share Brandon<\/strong><\/a>, 27).<\/p>\n She took the 2019 death of her longtime makeup artist Alexis Vogel as a sign to shed her vixen look. \u201cGetting dolled up was part of her image for so long, but it wasn\u2019t really her, and she was happy to ditch it,\u201d says the source. \u201cPamela has learned to embrace her natural beauty and she feels like the real Pamela is shining through.\u201d<\/p>\n She\u2019s scaled back her lifestyle as well, returning to Vancouver Island in her native Canada. \u201cIt saved her life,\u201d says the source. \u201cIt felt so good to get away from Hollywood.
