The ex-Oasis rocker, 56, has revealed for the first time his infamous pad in London was packed with full-size arcade games and a collectible pinball machine from The Who\u2019s \u2018Tommy\u2019 film he thinks he bought at a pop music auction.<\/p>\n
Noel told his comedy writer friend Matt Morgan, 47, on his podcast: \u201cTalking of the Nineties, I was at my (storage) lock up the other day. It\u2019s like going back in time because of all the Nineties (stuff) in there.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve got an original Pinball Wizard pinball machine (from The Who\u2019s merchandise) in the lock-up.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s called \u2018The Pinball Wizard\u2019 and the picture (on it) is Elton John in big boots, and it\u2019s a really primitive pinball machine.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I\u2019ve got an original \u2018Pac-Man\u2019 and a sit-down \u2018Space Invaders\u2019 and air hockey (arcade game.)<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI had them at Supernova Heights. It was a cocaine arcade!\u201d<\/p>\n
\nNoel went on about his love of full-size arcade games: \u201cPac-Man doesn\u2019t take up much room, it just stands against the wall.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI used to like the \u2018Defender\u2019 arcade game. It was a spaceship shoot-\u2019em-up.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt was great and you could hit hyper-space where you would appear somewhere else \u2013 it was a great machine.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nNoel said he had his Pac-Man game fitted with a plug instead of a coin slot so it could constantly be played without pumping coins into the machine.<\/p>\n
\nHe spoke of his love of computer games despite ranting in 2011 he was convinced shoot-\u2019em-ups were to blame for the riots that shook Britain that year.<\/p>\n
\nDespite the looting that broke out during the rampages being sparked by the police shooting of a black man and experts also linking them to socioeconomic issues, Noel told \u2018Guitar World\u2019: \u201cI can\u2019t understand where their energy for these riots is coming from. We live in this age of violence \u2013 and I don\u2019t care what other people say: Brutal TV and brutal video games are a reason for this pointless violence as well\u2026 the people are immune to violence, they are used to it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd if they get caught they aren\u2019t punished the right way. The prisons are already full? Then build new ones. It\u2019s crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nIn 2008, Noel also said video games were partly to blame for a knife crime spree that claimed the lives of more than 18 teenagers in London at the time.<\/p>\n
\nHe added to the BBC: \u201cPeople say it\u2019s through violent videogames and I guess that\u2019s got something to do with it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIf kids are sitting up all night smoking super skunk and they come so desensitised to crime because they\u2019re playing these videogames, it\u2019s really, really scary.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
