Kelly Clarkson<\/strong><\/a> candidly revealed she was diagnosed with prediabetes before losing weight.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I was told I was prediabetic,\u201d Clarkson, 41, told guest Kevin James<\/strong> during an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/em><\/a> on Monday, January 29, after James, 58, told her she looked \u201cgreat.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was literally what happened. \u2026 Well, I wasn\u2019t shocked,\u201d she continued. \u201cI was a tiny bit overweight. But I wasn\u2019t shocked by it. They did, they were like, \u2018You\u2019re prediabetic. You\u2019re right on the borderline.\u2019 I was like, \u2018But I\u2019m not there yet.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Clarkson said she waited two years until she ultimately decided, \u201cOK, I\u2019ll do something about it.\u201d The American Idol<\/em> winner previously acknowledged her weight loss earlier this month, revealing that she \u201cdropped weight\u201d<\/a> because she started listening to her doctor.<\/p>\n

Clarkson noted that she tends to eat a \u201chealthy mix\u201d of foods. \u201cAnd 90 percent of the time, I\u2019m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway,\u201d she told People<\/em>. \u201cI\u2019m a Texas girl, so I like meat \u2014 sorry, vegetarians in the world!\u201d<\/p>\n

The talk show host admitted she will \u201cstill splurge\u201d from time to time, noting that \u201cthe other night I had a frozen yogurt with my daughter, and it was magical.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Clarkson also credited spending time with her kids \u2014 daughter River, 9, and son, Remington, 7, whom she shares with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock<\/strong> \u2014 as the reason she\u2019s shed weight.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe go walk the dogs a few times at the park. We\u2019ll go for ice cream because my daughter will wear me down,\u201d she added. \u201cWe\u2019ll go make slime and we\u2019ll go to the museum.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clarkson, who recently made the move from Los Angeles to New York City, said her new change of scenery has also helped her weight loss journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cWalking in the city is quite the workout,\u201d she shared. \u201cAnd I\u2019m really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shortly before Clarkson left Hollywood behind, a source exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> that the \u201cSince U Been Gone\u201d singer was looking forward to raising her children in the Big Apple. Her talk show also moved production from Los Angeles to NYC\u2019s Rockefeller Center.<\/p>\n
