Last April, as in just nine months ago, hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin<\/strong> donated<\/a> a staggering $300 million to Harvard University, the school he graduated from in 1989. At the time, Griffin called the school a \u201cgreat institution,\u201d saying Harvard was \u201ccommitted to advancing ideas that will shape humanity\u2019s future, while providing important insight into our past.\u201d But fast-forward nine months, and the university, according to Griffin, has gone completely off the rails; its students have become \u201cwhiny snowflakes,\u201d he says, and he wants nothing to do with the place unless it shapes up.<\/p>\n Speaking at a conference in Miami on Tuesday, Griffin, who has a net worth of $36.8 billion<\/a>, said<\/a> \u201cAmerica\u2019s elite universities\u201d are \u201clost in the wilderness of microaggressions [and] a DEI agenda that seems to have no real endgame.\u201d He added that they are overrun with \u201cyoung men and women who are just caught up in the rhetoric of oppressor and oppressee, and \u2018this is not fair,\u2019 and frankly just, like, whiny snowflakes.\u201d When asked where he stood on giving Harvard more money, he declared: \u201cUntil Harvard makes it very clear that they\u2019re going to resume their role [of] educating young American men and women to be leaders, to be problem solvers, to take on difficult issues, I\u2019m not interested in supporting the institution.\u201d<\/p>\n This content can also be viewed on the site it originates<\/a> from.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Griffin has given more than $500 million to the university in total, and after last year\u2019s nine-figure gift, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences was renamed the Harvard Kenneth C. Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in his honor. Griffin has not said if he will ask for his name to be removed in protest of the school having apparently lost its way.<\/p>\n Griffin is not the only Harvard donor to temporarily close his checkbook to the school in recent months.
